If You Have A Jump Starter In Your Car

maxwayneIf You Have A Jump Starter In Your Car
With Winter coming, or already here, you should check the charge in your Jump Starter. I checked mine today and it was down to 80%.
We used it last Winter to charge our phones and lap top while our power was out for a couple of days. I also used it once this past Summer to start a friend's car. They seem to loose their charge gradually.
Let's hope we don't need them, but work if we we do.

cparktdGood reminder. Did mine a month ago before a road trip and it was down to 95% after one use and 13 months.
Endeavor to persevere. December 05, 2021, 01:36 PM
BytesThanks for the reminder. I thought of it last August but never followed up. Mines charging as I write this.

GT-40DOCI did mine last week and it was down and needed to be charged up.

M'headSigI’ve set a recurring reminder on my phone to charge my jump starter every three months.

john crusherGot it out from the back today while doing my Winter prep. I think everyone should at least have jumper cables and a good Winter kit , just in case.

NismoChecked my NOCO a few days ago, and was around 75-80%. Was at 100% the last time I charged it early this year. I also keep an extra long set of cables as a backup.

This is what I do. I have it set to ping me every six months.

beltfed21Max, I was planning on doing that but I figured I’d just call you instead if I need a jump.

I moved from central California where it's a novelty if we get frost on the ground during some winters and just moved to where I think the average snowfall is 12 inches for the year. That doesn't sound much, right?
But, in any case, should I expect the car battery to die just because it's cold? You have a lead on a decent jump starter?
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

BBMWI have jumper cables, but the battery is in another car.

craglawnmanorThese Lithium battery jump starters are awesome.
I have six kids, and I've bought one for the oldest five (the youngest will be 20 in January, but she's never bothered with getting her license even though her grandmother offered her a 2018 CRV with about 25K miles on it...

).
Everyone was home for Thanksgiving, & I charged up 3 of these. I keep telling my kids I won't be around forever to do these things for them.

I have the same question. We have newer (oldest is 2016 with a new battery) Hondas that stay in the attached garage, both have jumper cables we have never needed but I've helped out pals.
Home Depot has way too many choices, what's a simple basic jump starter?

sourdough44I’m still a quality jumper cable guy, haven’t made the switch to an actual jump starter. I see the benefit, maybe secondary uses too.
I will second the getting ready for Winter & the cold. The 1st place is tires & psi.

I do mine every two months, along with a couple of spare UPS batteries. Repeating calendar reminder also.

AquilonNot to hijack the thread, but could some of you folks post which jumpers you use and are pleased with? Need something for mid-sized SUVs/V6 engines. And something with a fair amount of reach/separation on the cables. Not even sure what specs to look for - always used cables (and a second vehicle).

the_sandman_454I don't have a jump start pack but do have jumper cables.
