Get my pies outta the oven! |
This is a new one: I see water leaking out of the rear of the unit after a brew cycle, do I have a busted hose inside? I consider these machines semi-disposable anymore and expect to get 2-3 years out of them, I don't buy the top of the line models anymore for this reason. I think I'm almost at 3 years on this one. Maybe time to pitch it and get another one? ***And please --- stow the lectures about why they suck and I should be using something else. I happen to like them and the way they produce a fresh cup on demand. I use Aldi German coffee or Gevalia and an adapter and it's just fine for me.

My wife and I happen to use Keurig solely. Anyway, even though your Keurig is a few years old and out of warranty, I would not hesitate to contact them and express how you love the brew, but the brewer is broke. It may be worth your time. They may just replace it for free or at a discount? We bought a Keurig brewer and when we first plugged it in, it leaked water from the brewing spout. I called and they sent a brand new boxed brewer to the house, no questions asked. Lineman

Little ray of sunshine |
We use them at the office, with about twenty office workers. So I'd guess it makes about 20 to 60 cups of coffee every day. They never last more than about six to nine months under that kind of use. I don't know if it is even possible to service one. After three years, I'd guess it is dead, but an email to Keurig is free. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle |

Just replace it - you'll pull you hair out trying to fix it. Keurig's have a 3 year shelf life at 3-4 cups day.

Been there and done that on the leaking Keurig. Without you telling us the model, I will say that's a consumer model like the kind you'd get at Bed, Bath & Beyond or Kohl's. They are crap and I will explain why, having been through this same thing myself and how I remedied the problem. The consumer models are made with really crappy parts that don't have longevity in them. Some engineer figured out the problem and said it's easily fixable however have to take the unit apart and do some tinkering and soldering and from a labor standpoint it wasn't worth it. Better to get a new one but here's where it gets tricky. All the units break down after the warranty period and my two prior units went for 2-2.5 years before leaking. When you call Keurig to complain they will sell you new one for around $45 off which is cheaper than what you can get it for locally and naturally you'll jump on the deal because you like the Keurig. Keurig is still making a ton of money on a repeat customer even with the discount and so they are not upset by this at all because you're getting the latest and greatest at a discount but you just getting another leak prone model. The secret is to buy a commercial model that's made with metal parts. That's the answer and you can get one for as little as $120 and it will last and last. I went that route and I'm almost 5 years on the unit with no problems or leaks. A commercial unit is the answer.

Get a new one. Then take apart the old, leaky one and figure out what went wrong. Maybe you can fix the new one when it finally springs a leak. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Bookers Bourbon and a good cigar |
Holy Carp! My daughter bought ours in July 2009 when we bought this place, used daily for my 2 or 3 cups every morning. We must have good luck. I think I've done the recommended cleaning cycle 3 times. I wanted one of the new models, but I'll pass for now. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

I got mine from Staples They’re for offices and built more heavy duty. I noticed my office model was much louder than any home model I’ve ever owned.

We're on our 2nd commercial model in 7 years. 30-40 people in the office, so probably 40-50 cups/day (not everyone's a coffee drinker). Power drop/surge earlier this week might've fried this one. Reboots when you hit brew, takes 3-4 reboots to get a cup sometimes. The Enemy's gate is down.
