Question????? How did the camera keep the same distance from the rear of the car during rapid accelerating and decelerating???? Awsome video with sounds that so many of us will never hear. ........................... drill sgt.

What causes the backfiring when the engine is not under load? The flames etc?

I’m trying to understand the physics or mechanics of it.

BTW, very nice

It's a 360 degree camera on a stick attached to the spoiler.

Sudden cutoff of air to the cylinders resulting in unburned gas in the exhaust because the injection doesn't adjust fast enough and the mixture is too rich form complete combustion. On a manual transmission car you might see black sooting from unburned HC around the exhaust due to sudden load changes during shifting.

The exhaust system is very short on a mid engine car with a North-South engine to making it more likely to see flame. But then you can also reprogram the ECM to exaggerate this, which isn't that much different than reprogramming a diesel to "roll coal" by running too rich. Some tuners like flames and the spitting sound on rapid decel so they do what they like. Too much fuel burning in the exhaust can kill a catalytic converter, but I don't think they are worried about that, or if the cats haven't already been stripped off.

Software edits it out automatically. Pretty common.
