If I am conscious, I am carrying. Sometimes when even when I’m not conscious. There’s no such thing as off duty anymore.

There’s no CA law regarding cops carrying in bars. It depends on agency policy. Mine says we can’t carry while “intoxicated or impaired”. No definition given for those terms so it’s up to us. If I go out I’ve got a gun.
This is an rguement for a “designated driver” as one of the officer. Sober and armed.

IcabodAs for the PTSD, there is no record of David Long being treated for PTSD. The VA has no record, neither do the Marines.
Back in the 1980s a paper near Ft. Lewis would often run crime stories with the notation “a former soldier at Ft. Lewis.” It didn’t matter how long ago it was or how brief their service. The “former Marine” seems to be the modern version.

THANK YOU—-I can’t tell you how many times I’ve preached this to officers I’ve worked with and supervised.

I doubt it, more likely hiring off duty LEOs.

FlashlightboySince each county in CA issues permits on their own terms, my county has terms that explicitly say,
"License holder shall not carry a concealed weapon while taking medication or if in a condition which is likely to impair judgment, behavior, or dexterity, or while consuming alcohol."
Not a lot of wiggle room on that.
