Hope someone may be able to help. My about to turn 10 yo grandson, who lives in the New Canaan - Wilton, CT area - wants to go shooting for his birthday. Exciting! (This area of CT is half an area south of Danbury, and just east of NY.) I could never get his Dad, my son, too much into shooting, though he liked sporting clays, and done a bit of that, and a bit of duck hunting. Well, my son tells number one grandson, great, we’ll go sporting clays with your granddad at Orvis in NY! Long story short, I successfully educated my son that shotgunning is not the way to start, so Chipmunk it is. Will take shorts and LR’s. But where? We thought we’d identified the Wilton Rod and Gun Club, but that is WAY north, not in Wilton in S. CT. Does anyone have recommendations? Would like him to shoot for the first time at an outdoor range vs indoors. I think outside would be less intimidating. I’d love my son to find a friend with a farm, but an outdoor range probably more realistic. Any guidance very appreciated. Thanks.

Wooster Mountain public range is right on Rt 7 in Wilton. Had a Sigforum shoot there back in 2005. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards
