It’s such a good feeling when your neglected ATV starts on the first try. No, I didn’t just toss in a new battery and have a go with very old gas. I did it the right way.

With a small hand pump I siphoned out all the old gas then I put in a brand new freshly charged battery. Boom the Yamaha fired up instantly. I love fuel injection! Cool

It’s a shame I let it sit so long. Four kids and little spare time meant the Yamaha Raptor 700 went on the back burner where it collected spider webs and dust. I suppose maybe I was naive to think I’d have time to ride it, I got it right before surprise baby #4.

I got a baby Raptor for my son and daughter and to my shock they didn’t really ask to ride it often. I would have been all over that as a kid. I suppose I should have been brave and gone the dirt bike route instead of quads. Big Grin

The baby Raptor looked sad on the day I traded it for two Kawasaki motorcycles. When this Raptor leaves it won’t be replaced by a moto lord knows I’ve got enough of them.

Yeah, I got a Yamaha Raptor 80 to fit inside a new RAV4. Big Grin

My old boat had been sitting for a couple years, replaced the batterys, turned the key on a couple times to fill the filters...cranked up 1st go. Suzuki outboard

A testament to luck or Stihl quality.
Got the 2-stroke string trimmer out last weekend, it had been sitting unused at our old house for about 2 years since we were using a lawn svc.

Put some old 2-stroke gas in it, and after about 8 pulls if fired up & ran great.

My record is the Sea-Doo I got running again last years. Probably 14 years. I had to pull the fuel pump assembly because the strainer at the bottom was completely clogged. Luckily it’s the same as a 1992 Saturn LS which the auto parts store had in stock. After that, it fired right up.

Carburetors on my motorcycles would have needed a thorough tear down and cleaning, plus maybe new needles. A couple hours or better.
