Random question anybody here into antique DE Safety Razors or straight razors? Recently purchased a lot of them at an estate sale because I know they have value but need help figuring out everything I've got.

DE Safety Razors
- if you google this you will find some for sale at various sites.

I use a DE razor, but it is a generic off the shelf type. Can't help you with antique ones.

You should post photos. There are enough vintage razor nerds here (myself included) to give you a fair price. You may even have some rare finds. Estate sales are funny that way.

Please don't turn this into a classified ad at any point, folks.

Apologies Arc, I just wanted to help the OP fill in the blanks on what he has. Ox, feel free to email me. Or, like others have said, go to Badger and Blade. It’s the sigforum of all things shaving

These are just a few picks I have right now. Plan on getting better pictures of all the razors and cataloguing all of them so I can start researching values.

other than the HUGE photos, (at least we can see details Wink )

it looks like you've got some worthwhile stuff there, I'd go over it more closely.

Badger and blade as noted above.
We do estate auctions and the olde safety razors are certainly in.

Not mega bucks but always worth a 2nd look these days.

The best sources I’ve found, are the proper barber shoppes.
Go get a heart cut and chat them up on latest “old” trends.
(You may need to find a more trendy barber shop tho.
Cuz it’s the kids these days that are driving the revival.
Also shave cups and Brushes are a thing too.

Well, you picked up quite a variety there. Of the SE types, you’ve got a 1912 Lather Catcher, a Gem Junior and an Ever-Ready marked variant that I can see. Looks like some Schick injectables up in the top of the tray.

The Twinplex stropper is a neat find. Here’s a video that shows how it works.

Grumpy, is that a Duplex in the bottom of that pic? If so, have you used it? I was only aware that the carpet cutter ground blades were available and definitely aren’t shave ready.

I really can't tell squat from your pictures because they are SO DAMNED LARGE. Scrolling up and down and left to right doesn't help jack. Frown Frown

It’s easier to see more details in larger pictures rather than small ones. Sure, it breaks the forum tables, but this is a fair use of it. I was able to zoom in and see details that a picture half that resolution wouldn’t haven’t given.

More helpful would be this: take them out of the roasting pan, sort them by type and arrange them not in a pile. Straight razors with the blades open enough to see the markings and the single edge safety razors (the ones marked Gem, etc) with the other side facing up.

With your Gillette, [Edit] I think you have a New Deluxe. Should be a serial number somewhere on the barrel when you unscrew it from the handle. The complete kit with the blade bank makes it a nice find. Maybe 1930?
