Any STOK Grill Aficionados Here?
I have the STOK Island grill and really like it, it's going on 3 years now and the circular heat tent is beginning to corrode and burn up a little and I figured I'd look into a replacement.

STOK Island:

Emailed STOK customer service since I could not find anything online and they get back to me and inform me the Island model has been discontinued. Frown

This kind of disappoints me that they would not have any spare parts available for it any longer.

I guess when things start failing on this thing, I'm SOL and will need to buy something else. Maybe a Weber Q3200 this time around?

I have a STOK and I'm not terribly happy with it. I'm pretty sure that 90% of my issues are related to the fact that propane disintegrates my grills.

What I need to do is get a natural gas line run for my next grill.

Why does propane disintegrate your grils? I see heavily used weber propane grills that keep on ticking. I have a weber genesis and am thoroughly happy with it, wouldn't change a thing.

H2O is a byproduct of the burn. I'm pretty sure Natural Gas produces more per BTU, but it'd be easier to use. It was kindof a joke.

I went the NG route 12 years ago and haven't looked back.
No more refilling of bottles, just turn the valve on the side of the house and Presto!

NG doesn't burn as hot but in the summer, I can get up to 550 degrees, plenty of heat.

I've got the little tourist model for camping. Works great and packs pretty small.

I have the Island and I'm very happy with it, sad they discontinued them, as I would by another if this one crapped out.

I wonder if it wasn't a big seller due to it being so non traditional looking, but I love the built in work surface and shelf on the thing.

I hate companies that don't support their products. In an era when everyone likes to tout how green they are, companies often fail to understand or hope consumers fail to notice that there is no product greener than the one that stays out of the landfill. Some of this can be tracked back to demand, though. Seems very few people are interested learning to repair their own stuff.

Yes, the grill is barely 3 years old and in good shape except for the heat tent which I'd say has another 2-3 years maybe before it's burned up.

That really pisses me off that they cannot support a 3 year old grill, and I will not be buying a STOK next time I go grill shopping.

Aren't the Stok's only like $200??? Here a $200 grill is completely rotted out in 2-3 years.....and 6 years isn't long enough?

Yep in Fl outdoor grills just don't last, temp, humidity, chlorine in the air around the pool if you have an enclosure, all combine to kill off grills pretty quick.

So far my Weber Genesis is holding up well.

Have you googled the part, perhaps someone has it online a vendor or take the stock part to a metal fab shop, see if they can make one for you...

Is this the part?

I paid around $300 and yes, I'd like it to last as long as possible.

H2O (i.e. water) is a byproduct of burning any hydrocarbon, natural gas (methane), propane, or anything else and per pound, propane has more BTUs than natural gas.

Yes, natural gas would be more convenient, no heavy cylinders to lug around, get refilled or run out at the worst time, but using propane had nothing to do with your grill's failures.
