This is hilarious to me as my rural building is designed and I’m budgeting for everything. At the top of the list is 3 Toto toilets. 2 in the house, and one in the mud room in the garage. I’ve been saying this will be a no toilet paper property. I’m as excited for this fact as much as going rural and getting away from people. So that video is dead on Big Grin

I don't know why Toto has been so slow to adopt in the domestic market here. I've liked them since the 1980s. Toto even had a presence in SoCal but I think it's closed now (not sure). Ever since installing Toto, our house has become plunger free - never needed a plunger for Toto toilets.

When I remodel someday, hope to use toto bathtub, fixtures (especially their single temp valves), their spouts (I love the clear water vs sprays) and handheld shower heads (already using).

There was a Toto in the master bath of our beach rental last summer. Not gonna lie. It was really nice. The wife and I both said if or when we remodel a bathroom we are putting one in.

Not in. I would need a firehose some days. I'll just wash after like I normally do.

I think it is mostly a matter of price point and the priority many folks place on personal hygiene. I replaced all the spec toilets in my house with Toto ones. The only issue has been normal wear-n-tear items with tank internals over 20 years

Question for the male bidet users as I've always been curious. How do you keep the nasty poo water from running all over your junk? I would think that gravity would do its job down there.

One is not in my future as I don't have any outlets near my commodes to plug one into and I don't imagine having my hind end sprayed with cold water would be a pleasant experience.

The self cleaning sprayer nozzle protrudes / retracts into a housing at the back of the toilet seat.

Electrician installed a GFI outlet near the toilet - it was very cheap (and I watch pennies). YMMV.

Water can be heated to various temperatures. And the spray pressure is adjustable as well (as obviously the position). The seat can be heated as well. I love the seat warmer in the winter, especially as I age.

Sounds nice... but does some of the spray end up on the floor? Which would make it slippery?

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

There are various models and such. But there are pics and videos on costco's website of one model sold at costco.

The sprayer might be interlocked with seat pressure. In any case, it's manually operated (on/off button) - if it sprays w/o someone on the seat, it was manually triggered.

I don't think I've ever been to any hotel in Japan spanning 30 years and many many nights, city or countryside, $50/nt to $400/nt, that didn't have the washlet. They are ubiquitous. If there is an issue, it's probably been designed out by now....

When we were living in Japan, it seemed that most people thought TOTO was short for Tokyo Toilets but I found out later that the original company name was Toyo Toki which means Japanese pottery or ceramics.

We've been putting off getting them in our house since we're probably going to move out into the country in the next couple of years, but we plan to have them in the next place. The one we're in now doesn't have any electrical outlets near the toilets.

Interesting comments on Costco's sight, the constant complaint is that this unit has a 30 second warm water wash vs continuous warm water so you don't get continuous warm water.

I'm not positive if the 90+ non 5 star reviews are from women looking for a little "longer warm water experience" nudge nudge, wink, wink, you know what I mean......

I would think it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to clean a normal persons butt, however, for the Costco Toto model, that is the most common issue noted...

The Kohler and Brondell get way more sales than Toto, and it's not a price point issue as they are similar in price.

All Costco Bidet Seats

The Brondells have continuous warm water vs the Toto, so that may be a reason, and it has a nice heated dryer feature...

We had one of the Toto bidet seats for a short time. While it worked well, there was one thing my wife and I both disliked. It keeps you tilted forward. The back of the seat is elevated, so you are tilted forward. Not a lot, but enough that it’s not really comfortable in my opinion. If the seat was flat and still did the cleaning, it would be preferred.

I understand physics enough to know why the back is elevated, it makes it easier to blast you right in the ring and get it clean. I just prefer to sit on a flat seat when I’m doing my business.
