My daughter is in Minn. Married to Minn State Patrol officer. They want to renovate their bathroom. Husband to do all the carpentry and tile work. Quote to add a water line for new sink and rotate toilet 90 degrees was $8,000. She paid $80 for the 5 min inspection. They live in Robbinsdale, Minn. I realize it's a pandemic but $8K to put in 4 ft of plastic pipe??

I am in a holding pattern of making a partial bath into a true 3/4 bath in my basement. As such I had a few people in for pricing. I did have one guy quote me $5800 earlier this year for breaking the slab to do a drain for a sink and shower, all vents, new supply and to possibly turn an existing toilet 90 degrees so the 8000 price seems pretty ridiculous to me. If you want the contact info for that guy feel free to shoot me an email at the address in my profile.

I would think as a police officer, he would have some good resources to find a quality contractor. Asking other co-workers, boss, colleagues, local departments, etc.

$8000 seems quite high. If you don't have many personal references, one could start by looking at the Google reviews for plumbers nearby and have a few visit for free quotes, then go for whoever you feel looks best.
