I love the Iditarod. Always have. For someone who spends quite a bit of time outdoors in the winter. It is absolutely my favorite time of year. And of course being a canine lover is part of it too. The connection to your dogs and outdoors is something special. Especially in the wild. To me at least.

May all the mushers, dogs and support staff be safe and complete the course.

Here is a website. I was looking for a tracker but looks like maybe you need to subscribe and pay for it.

If you have a link, please post it.

You probably did not notice, because 2000Z-71's thread has slipped to the third page:

I became a fan of Iditarod during my 5 years in Anchorage. The highlight was a VIP that I knew had been given a pass that allowed them to go past the crowds right where the media was, and the pass didn't have a photo on it so they gave it to me for 30 minutes. I was laying down paw level taking pics with my iPhone right next to professional photographers with their high dollar set-up.

Also, got to meet several of the mushers during Fur Rondy (the week of parties leading up to the ceremonial start). My two favorite are Aliy Zirkle and Dallas Seavey. Actually got to chat with Dallas one on one for 10 minutes at one of the Fur Rondy events.

Exactly 7 years ago today, I drove to my buddy's place to meet some guys for breakfast and walk to the Iditarod festivities. Was raising my windshield wipers so they didn't freeze to the windshield, and a moose walked around the corner. It saw me and broke into a trot straight at me and I had to dive into the cab of my truck. Definitely got the old heart pumping.

This is the free one that I use . It doesn't give GPS location but tells when everyone checks in.

Life below Zero tv cast member Jessie Holmes is doing well out of the gate. In his first Iditarod last year I believe he finished seventh.
He is a committed musher who lives in Nenana with his sled dogs. I hope he does well. So far he is in the lead but it is just getting started.
