WOW! These posts conjure up memories of Sandy Pond, Selkirk State Park, and other "haunts" of my youth on Lake Ontario.
My folks used to own a place on Henderson Harbor. I spent a lot of time up that way.
Interesting. My folks owned a large lake front spread on Romana Beach adjacent to Selkirk.

Overlooking our adjoining neighbor's property to the south looking out at Lake Ontario from the cliffs

bald1Looking at Google Maps I find the property is now occupied by several vacation homes. There are no remnants of the bulldozer cut my father made in the cliff down to the beach nor the hook of extremely large boulders he had placed in the water in an attempt to make a shelter for a sailboat. That failed filling in with sand and made for a great site for nighttime bonfires.

We had a succession of shelters on the property including a small cabin and a camping trailer.
The old property is outlined in red. The little red squiggly X is on the neighbors home (in the previous picture above) which still stands. Back then N Ramona Beach Rd stopped at our southern boundary where we had a straight dirt entry with a large padlocked chain across blocking access. The road now takes a bend and extends to the new home sites.

captain127Too bad it is in enemy territory! What the left has done to destroy NY ( outside of NYC which has always been the bottom of the barrel) is so Sad. FYI we have plenty of lakes here in AZ (a ton more than people think) I love AZ ( as a former Buffalo region resident I feel your pain behind the lines) and suggest getting out ASAP

I thought that pier looked familiar! We boat up the Genesee River there sometimes. I live about 12 miles east.
Drove up to miss the eclipse behind the clouds. At least I was able to snap some pics of the 360° sunset.

Let's keep politics out of the thread, please.

SPWAMike0317The concept of envisioning my happy place is very real because I have been there.
Mine is located on the south side of Martha's Vineyard. It is a beach that is only reachable by paddling across a salt pond, beaching the boat and walking over a stretch of sand. To get to the salt pond we had to traverse two miles of sand road. There we had rented a house without electricity and it was freaking wonderful. There was one evening where I was grilling and watching family and friends set the table lit by candlelight and sunset. I wept at the beauty of that moment.
Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?
