Given the National politics, do any of the Forum Members actually have any Liberal Friends? As for myself, I have a very limited number, likely because they don’t suffer from TDS! They may not like Conservative policies, however they are willing to have productive conversations in which they present their reasoned objections rather than getting into a shouting, ad hominem diatribe. I deliberately avoid Liberals who simply want to pick a fight - attempt at rational debate proves impossible. I have no interest in going toe-to-toe with demented Far Left True Believers! So… your thoughts, please. No quarter .308/.223

I do. They are our best friends. We love them dearly. Politics is never a discussion point.

I have no liberal friends. Life is too short. How do you not talk politics with people you see on a regular basis? I don't think I could do it. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

I have no liberal friends. The few that I had in the past, who I didn't even realize were so far left at the time, all broke off contact with me in 2016. I thought it was pretty funny. 十人十色

I do not have any, I have one liberal neighbor and I try to avoid talking with him. He is unhinged and beyond reason. He got into it with a neighbor down the street, that neighbor is a retired Vet and conservative. He asked my neighbor to leave his yard after my neighbor starting talking nonsense. He did not leave so he got punched in the face. My neighbor called the cops and they asked if he was asked to leave his yard, he said yes. The police said why didn’t you leave then and left. Unless you count cyber- I have no friends, so... Seriously. A few acquaintances, some of whom may have Liberal leanings but we don't talk enough to get into politics. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

I have many liberal friends, more accurately acquaintances, but not close friends. It's not as easy as merely avoiding political topics for me. If a person, liberal or conservative, has strong political beliefs it permeates their entire worldview and life philosophy. It doesn't matter what topic is mentioned, the liberalism just creeps right in to any conversation.

I know liberals but none of the liberals I know are people I routinely hang out with, my friends are all conservative and like minded so we get along fine. There are a few liberals I know that are completely deranged when it comes to President Trump and it amazes me how some people have allowed themselves to become completely brain washed and conditioned to hate Trump while they completely ignore the failings of liberal Politicians like Biden, Harris and Newsome.

As long as they leave their flawed political and personal choices out of the conversation, I can tolerate liberal minded folk. The minute they let their hate and irrational viewpoints bubble to the surface, I’m fine with literally ignoring their existence. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I have a few liberal friends and a liberal son. Simple, just don't talk politics. Believe it or not, it isn't necessary. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

Don't have a problem with friends that are liberal, just family members. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

My best friend leans left. He definitely does not like Trump. He tolerates my opinions and I tolerate his. But being best friends, we rise above our differences. We still enjoy each others company, and still enjoy shooting together.

This. I had one friend who I was friends with going way back. He became hateful and I just avoided further contact with him. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

The success of a solution usually depends upon your point of view |
I have one. We grew up together since about 5 years old so we’ve got about 55 years of history together. We haven’t lived in the same area since I left Philly for the Navy but have kept in touch through letters, phone calls, then email and texting. I’ve been to CA (Berkeley no less) to visit her and she has been to Fl to visit us. Years back she, bher husband and son spent Christmas with my wife and I and our son here in Fl. 2 years ago she spent 10 days with us here that covered my 59th and her 60th birthdays. The only people that I love more than her is my wife and son. A difference in political opinions is insignificant compared to our history. We do talk politics some. We have a blanket "agree to disagree" understanding but we sometimes find out that our opinions on some subjects is closer to each other then we would have thought. Neither of us is an "in your face" type or are any kind of activists so there isn’t any drama in our relationship and politics are more of an outlier topic to us, not a focal point. Otherwise, just about everyone of my other friends is strongly conservative. “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

I really can’t think of any. I have a nephew that I’m close to, that is odd in his political views. If you average his personal beliefs they would average out to moderate, but it’s because he goes extremely left and right on different issues. He is an enigma. As a rule, we don’t talk politics and coalesce on common ground. I do not believe I would choose to have liberal friends, but if I had one I would respect their beliefs if they respected mine. I hang around god fearing outdoorsman who hunt, fish, shoot guns, and mostly love Jesus. I haven’t come across any liberals in our adventures. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

Same here. They were mine & my wife's roommates when we met & they ended up getting married as well. I've known my friend for nearly 30 years & somewhere in the last 10 or so they've both flipped. It rarely comes up when we see them, as we both know we're not going to change each other's minds. No idea what shifted for the both of them. All 4 of us were raised in conservative homes in 2 similar small conservative towns [TX for me & CA for my wife]. The Enemy's gate is down.
