I have one of these as emergency back up. How “clean” is the power it produces? Can I safely run my electronics with it?

All of the military generators are fairly clean. Keep in mind that the military runs all of their important stuff off of them themselves. If you want to ensure no problems with your electronics I would make sure the generator is grounded properly, and I would use a UPS with surge protection between anything sensitive and the power source.

That's old school. I'd have an electrician check it out if you were worried. I can tell you that the server stacks and similar that I've run off a mil generator have had built in UPS. However, folks plug laptops, smart phones, video games, etc. into military generators all the time. a1abdj's advice about grounding is excellent and most folks forget to do it or don't do it right.

Yep, get a ups. They (like from APC) make a "power conditioner" which basically the electronic part of the UPS without the battery change over. These are uses a lot on TV's and other equipment not needing the battery up time like what computers need.
