Jackson Hill Climb A High-Octane Snowmobile Sprint Up North America’s Steepest Ski Run
The World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb is taking place in Jackson, Wyoming this weekend is NASCAR for sledheads, an annual highmarking event that’s high-octane, adrenaline-fueled mayhem straight up the steepest ski run in North America on a snowmobile.
This weekend more than 300 contestants from all over the world are competing see who can go balls-to-the-wall straight up Snow King Mountain on a 1,574-foot climb called Exhibition.
Capped with an unfathomable 45-degree vertical section called Rock Garden, the aptly named double-black diamond run puts the wobble in extreme skiers’ knees and makes mincemeat out of $20,000 snowmachines every March. It’s billed as the steepest ski run in North America. Cowboy State Daily Article
The attached video is from last year’s championship, I believe this year’s finals takes place today. We lived in Teton County and I got on a sled quite a few times. That part of my ranger district, up on Togwotee Pass is considered a snowmobiler’s Mecca and sledheads from snowmobiling strongholds all over the country aspire to make the trip to the deep powder and spectacular scenery on Togwotee. The Jackson/Snow King Hill Climb is just part of that culture.
I think you’ll get a kick out of this video.

Pretty exciting. I thought they'd be faster, maybe because I imagined it'd be like a motorcycle hill climb. They need to up their game in regards to runaway sleds.

Nucking Futts. Is all I can say and that’s just talking about the ones trying to stop a rolling sled being push by gravity.
