including the one that let off 30 rounds from an AR when we were approaching his house.
You can't leave the story there. What happened after that?
Yes, inquiring minds want to know! (I'm assuming they were not blanks--most AR owners don't have blank-adapted ones.)

LBTRSI've lived in the Phoenix area for the last 11 years and have not heard any gunfire on New Years or any other time for that matter.
We did have some fireworks for about 30 minutes but that is part of New Years.
You're embellishing the story a bit I would say.

Mostly because of drunk assholes, including the one that let off 30 rounds from an AR when we were approaching his house. We had two murders last night and one pedestrian ran over.
Hell of a way to ring in the new year.
I can't wait to retire and get the hell away from any big city.
Just as good as walking up to a trailer for a disturbance one New Years Eve and a door opening up on the trailer that was just passed and an AK coming out letting out about a half a mag into the still night sky. Some Under-roos were retired that night....
