Husband, Father, Aggie, all around good guy! |
I hope this recognition day helps deliver for those Vietnam War Veterans who were cheated out of their due respect and "welcomes home" by the left of this country, some peace, joy, fulfillment and recognition of their sacrifices and duty fulfilled. Dad was in Vietnam ground combat, drafted out of Houston's east side Magnolia area in 1967. He went to boot camp at Ft. Polk and served in Vietnam in the Chu Lai area with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. Wounded in combat in '68 by an NVA grenade, medevac'd out and recovered stateside while his duty ended. Worked for the post office, raised two kids, married for 55 years. Lived and loved this country with every fiber of his being till he died. We lost dad to cancer in '21. Thank you President Trump for signing this day in existance. I hope you will share your Vietnam story next.

Thank you Very little |
We have two Vietnam vets in our family, both uncles, brothers of my father served. Les served in the Marines, did 3 tours on the ground, made it home, survived the tours and eventually died from complications we believe of agent orange. BJ served in the Navy, eventually working on the maintenance team of the Blue Angels for a bit post Vietnam.

3° that never cooled |
Just saw a reminder yesterday that today is RVN vet day. My brother and my tours in RVN overlapped. He served as an APC driver in a Mortar platoon, I as an Armor TC in another outfit. I traveled home in uniform during the wee hours in early '70, so thankfully missed the ugliness that many returning endured. NRA Life

I will say here, what I say to anyone I see that I can identify as a Vietnam Veteran. "Welcome Home....." Pronoun: His Royal Highness and benevolent Majesty of all he surveys 343 - Never Forget Its better to be Pavlov's dog than Schrodinger's cat There are three types of mistakes; Those you learn from, those you suffer from, and those you don't survive.

Rightwire said, "Welcome Home....." We rarely heard that back in the 60s when I returned. I appreciate the sentiment. Bob

That my friend, is exactly why I say it. I was just a child at at the end of the war but am well aware of how returning vets were treated. You did not get the welcome home you and every other veteran deserves for serving your country overseas. To you sir specifically. Welcome home. Vietnam War Era Veteran here... 1969-1970 served on and inside the Korean DMZ even received incoming shots fired but not allowed to return fire... Upon return travel across the states received harasment in the airports of Seattle/Tacoma , Denver , Houston , New Orleans...Guess it was just the mindset of the country thanks to the nightly main stream national media coverage...YES I have to say 'WELCOME HOME'............................... drill sgt.

I am proud that I spent two "vacations" at govt. expense back in the day. Made some lifetime friendships, and grew up a lot!!

Objectively Reasonable |
Dad's war. He was career Army, never talked much about his two tours. 26 years later we buried him at ANC less than a mile from one of his best friends, killed in Vietnam in 1972. Thanks to all of you who went and came home. Prayers for all who went, but didn't.
