He's talking like this happens all the time. Things like this are very rare that I've seen out in the real world. He must have gotten orders from above in the corporate ESG world to make a statement. Of course in Mass nothing surprises me.

I remember a day, at least in theory, when a doctor might say "hey, he's a gangster that has hurt and killed many people. but first, i'm a doctor. i'll treat him. it's up to the police and the judge to decide what to do with him after that." But now, we might hear "hey, he's a very decent guy that everyone likes but he's religious and not entirely receptive to gays; he said once that male gays can't get pregnant. so, i can't possibly treat him." Got it. Here's hoping that the decent guy here is, for example, a LEO and he just can't protect this doctor while he's being robbed and assaulted at home because a LEO of this type is not "worthy " of providing any protective services to a doctor of the type above. One wonders what caused this policy. The doc here was getting too many patients needing a band aid because some word hurt their feeeeeeeelings? So, despite my childhood, medical schools now teach that words actually do hurt? Not sure about anyone else, but I'll take a word over sticks and stones any day. Not that any normal person should seek medical care in that filthy place, but their shitty policy wouldn't survive court challenge. Q

When I say that the world will be a better place when Amazon and Warlmart are the only options, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Same as threads like the recent restaurant cost where local consumers choose to head a different direction and everybody then gets to deal with the fallout. Around here private practices are gobbled up by big hospital systems. Big hospital systems have these views. Now what? Where will you go for medical care? Same will happen in every other sector of our economy. Larger operations run out all of the locals, then you'll buy what they're selling for the cost they decide, on their terms, or you'll go without.

Living in Asshatachusetts, Milford Regional, is a low tier hospital, community hospital at best. Not a Level 1 Trauma Center, no 24hr surgical capabilities. Seriously sick or trauma patients are transferred to Worcester or Boston teaching hospitals.

Listen, if you want to bend over and take it up the ass from insane authoritarians, that's up to you, but don't expect the rest of us to drop trou and lube up with you. Where will we go for our medical care? May I suggest not Milford Regional?

That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm warning against the lube job that's coming down the road.
Great! So let's say 3 large hospital systems control that area. Like all of these larger companies they jump on this DEI bandwagon and all take the same stance. You going to go to the veterinarian? The big fish gobbling up the small fish, who then get gobbled up be even bigger fish are eliminating your choices.

No, what you're saying is that we should not balk at this kind of insane shit, and we should just take it, because if we don't it will ultimately be to our detriment. And I am telling you that that is surrendering outright. Clearly, you see any push-back against things such as a healthcare provider saying they will turn away people who don't speak and act precisely in a manner they deem acceptable, as a bad thing. Well, I don't see it that way, and the fact that you think I'm wrong is just too damn bad. Apparently, you think you possess some great vision the rest of us lack, and this great vision allows you to divine things about the future that the rest of us cannot see. Based upon your remarks in this and the other cited thread, the lens which lends this vision to you is by dint of you being a business owner, and I find that more than a bit bizarre.

Federal law - Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) covers that. It's called the 'anti-dumping' law. A hospital can not turn you away if you need emergency care. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

No, that is absolutely not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that if we allow this kind of insane shit to take hold you'll have no other option other than taking it.
180 degrees opposite what I'm saying.
Wrong about what I'm saying, definately.
Yes. The fact that I support a diverse local economy, strong tax base, low local employment, and consumer choice is quite bizarre. Bizarre indeed! Because when the locals go away....this is what you get. It's a death spiral.

I'm done with this contradictory shit from you. As far as I can determine, you're having fun trying to gaslight me, and I'm not buying it. And now you'll tell me that that is not the case, and my response to that is if that is so, you need to strive for directness and clarity in your remarks, because those things are simply not present. Either way, I'm not going to try to understand the apparent contradictions on this page. If you don't like what I have to say on the matter, it's not my problem.

a1abdj, I am sure since you're a business owner, you know and understand that the only person that can SELL OUT a business is the owner, right? ___________________________ No thanks, I've already got a penguin.

It's quite easy. I typed what I typed. If you want to quote the part where I was suggesting you bend over and take it feel free to do so. Seeing I never said anything of the sort, I don't know how I'm trying to gaslight you.
Sure. I think more of what's going on is forceful vs. voluntary though, and that's a different animal.

EXACTLY! One of the arguments that the uninformed used during the pre ACA days that “people are being turned away from hospitals (aka ER’s) because the don’t have insurance” which was bullshit. I remember those signs plastered all over the walls of the local hospital in both English and Spanish stating that you as a patient would get treatment albeit minimal regardless if you did not have insurance. This was in the 80’s when my “hobby” was Fire/EMS and I can guarantee we never refused to transport nor saw anyone refused treatment in the local hospital or not get transferred to larger facilities in Albuquerque if the need was there. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
