SigLawThe joys of shooting with your kid
I recently bought a PSA upper and lower build kit. I decided I wanted to see if I could interest my son in building it with me so I bought a “cool” Spikes Spartan lower. He is 20 and while he will shoot occasionally, we do not do a lot together.
Anyway, we built the rifle together and yesterday took it out to test it. It ran great, It was ringing the 300 yard steel with a red dot no problems.
The great thing was that I could feel that my son was actually impressed that his dad could make that shot much easier than he could. It was a brief moment when he looked up to me like when he was little. We had a good time and so it was money well spent.

AquabirdI am with ya on that one.
Son and I went to Gunsite for a week together.
We shoot together often actually. We go to gun shows together as well.
Looking forward to shooting with my grandkids.
I have already shot with 3 of my grandkids.

D4HeavyYeah Siglaw, I know the feeling. I adopted 6 children from foster car and have 4 biological children. I have 4 boys and 6 girls. I love taking them to the range with me. I alternate boys one weekend and girls the next.
It’s enjoyable to teach them the basics and fundamentals and it’s typically a time when they really listen to dad.

alreadydeadThe best feeling is when you shoot your best and your kid shoots better.

I am looking forward to that day, but dad can still hang, at least with a rifle

1967GoatMy 2 boys are 7 & 8. I got them pellet rifles for Christmas a year and a half ago. I made sure they knew it was from dad and not Santa. We'll be stepping it up to .22 soon.
