I keep the keys to my three digital gun safes in the one gun safe that has a mechanical lock.

I change my safe batteries whenever they take more than one attempt to open the safe.

When I did reliability and maintenance, electronic devices were considered to be about 10 times less likely to fail than mechanical devices, based on large datasets.
