I am looking for a place to buy Char Siu (叉烧) -- Chinese Roast Pork -- by the pound. Just the pork, not combined with rice or anything else. I have tried a few Chinese restaurants, no joy, they do not sell just the plain pork. Anybody in the Orlando area (preferably on the north side) have any ideas for me? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Perhaps someplace like mei’s supermarket? "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

DOn't know of any up north, however there is a large Asian community and grocery stores downtown off mills and colonial one of them might have it. https://www.orlandosentinel.co...-20190409-story.html

Don't know where you could buy it, but it doesn't look too hard to make, and it uses butt which is the cheapest cut of pork. https://thewoksoflife.com/chinese-bbq-pork-cha-siu/ "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . IF the restaurants don't sell just the pork, find out where they get it from. Lots of times, they don't make the pork and duck in house and source it from another establishment.

Yeah, I saw that recipe, will probably do it that way if necessary, but I thought that it would be easier to just buy it if I could find some. Maybe Thai Blossom? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

You could ask there. You might also call Sushi Eatstation. They are a local chain, have an outlet in Altamont Springs, and are big enough that they may have a central cooking facility for some of their products. Everyone I know who has eaten there loves their stuff. They came very close to leasing space in a client's building, so I know that they are locally owned. Had not heard of them, and there are two fairly close by.... I am more of a Nigiri sushi person, Tuna rolls, and a few others and they don't have Nigiri at least on the menu.

I'll check with them. The Altamonte Springs location is about five minutes from my house; they are in the strip mall slot where The UPS Store that I use, was previously located. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

The Asian grocery store/market suggestion is your best bet. Most of the large ones around here sell that and many other meats. By the pound.

They are not really a sushi joint, they are an Asian street food place built around sushi. I have never been inside the store, but there is large Asian supermarket at the corner of Colonial Dr. and Bumby Ave. It's in an old Winn Dixie.

The Altamonte Springs location is sort of diagonally across the street (434) from Costco. Let me know if you're going to go there, it's very close to my house. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Gotta find a Chinese deli, where they make it daily. Otherwise, make your own, very easy. Father was a long-time chef at a Cantonese restaurant in the SF Area. Their website has very user friendly recipes More involved, couple lived in Hong Kong creating really insightful videos but, moved during the CCP's crack-down

That's some good stuff. You can eat it on its own but I like dicing it up into omelets and also to use in fried rice. _____________
