Mitch McConnell has fallen over inside a Senate office building.

The 83-year-old Kentucky senator was being asked a question by a reporter when he lost his footing inside the basement of the Russell Senate Office Building on Thursday.

McConnell was helped to his feet by an aide and a Capitol Police officer. He was able to wave briefly at the camera and then continued walking without any assistance.

More like the ER. Falls are a major cause of death among the elderly. It is a precursor to assisted living.

McConnell's 'Vapor Lock' incident did NOT involve a fall and occurred over two years ago! These two separate incidents were unrelated, but both are indicative of the need for him to go!

The conspiratorial speculation is that he is owned by China through his wife's family's shipping business. I don't know if that makes a lot of sense, since the family fled China by way of Taiwan in the late 50s/early 60s and Elaine's father built the Foremost shipping empire in the USA. I think he took that tumble on purpose so he did not have to talk to Stella.

He looked over and tapped the fella next to him right before he took the tumble then got up and smiled right at the camera and waved.

I guess you gotta replace those batteries every two years.

No reason not to assume he'll drop dead in the Senate soon enough.

His Chinese remote control seems to be malfunctioning. Nothing to see, move along.

I'm sorry, but there are few people that should be serving in his capacity over the age of 80. I'd be fine with an age cap.

I disagree. I know plenty of people over 80 with intact cognitive functioning and many 40 year olds with fried brains. Trump is pushing 80 and seens to have boundless energy. Remember we are talking about cognitive funcioning not who can run a three minute mile.

I beg to differ. Both involved neurocognitive issues and would warrant a neurological evaluation.

McConnell came to mind a little while ago when I was on the top climbable step on a 6-foot stepladder, getting my wife's Christmas boxes down from the garage Costco rack. I don't think my next garage, wherever it is, will have such racks requiring a ladder.

Regarding the age limit: I'm imagining Trump turning 80 later in this term; he's right on the cusp of signing a treaty in which North Korea gives up all its nuclear weapons and becomes an ally of South Korea and Japan--and someone comes up, whispers in his ear, he puts down his pen and walks away.

I rewound the video and it is apparent to me that his gait is impaired thus leading to his fall.

Back to turtle. I don't like seeing any elderly having to contend with balance issues, even though I don't like the guy. I'm going to have to up my exercise game myself. To forestall the inevitable as long as possible.

Currently I do treadmill 3 days/wk; free weights and machines another 2 days a wk. My bodybuilding days are long gone but now it's stretching exercises with resistance.

You need to build in balance exercises. Falls can be serious as you age.

Mitch is one of the remaining old-guard GOPers that maintains a resentful and indignant position that they can't stand that an outsider came in and changed the tenor & tone of the party.
