DrDanHelp: Windows 10 update lost my desk top; multiple desktops
We seem to have a number of Windows 10 experts, so I hope someone can help me.
My employer-owned laptop (a Surface Pro, if it matters) did an automatic update this morning. According to system info, I am running Windows 10 Enterprise, 10.0.17134.
Prior to the update, my system displayed the standard Windows desktop, you know, a bunch of icons for folders, documents, etc. I made extensive use of the multiple desktop feature that Microsoft added, and developed a reasonably comfortable work mode, being primarily a Linux and Mac user. Once the update completed, and the system did a restart, it now shows me the "Start menu," i.e. buttons to launch a number of applications. I cannot get it to show me the standard desktop, and worst of all, there are no longer any multiple desktops available. I did an Internet search, but nothing indicates Microsoft removed the multiple desktop feature, but none of the guides on how to add additional desktops work. Clicking on Task View does not even show an option to add a desktop, as it did previously.
Any suggestions on how I can get back my beloved multiple desktops? Or did they disappear in the most recent update?

xantomIt could be you are in "tablet mode".

Not that hard to fix
Click on right hand corner settings/notifications icon on taskbar then click tablet mode.

Just in case some of the long distance folks can't make it, I'll volunteer to take that beverage is a stand-in.

LR, you always have an open tab at my bar.

Once this whole bother has passed, we need to get together.
