WoodmanBattling the flu, I finally made a crock pot full of chicken soup. Ate a full half gallon of it yesterday.
And an entire 8.5 ounce tray of Original Keebler Fudge Sticks (Fudge Covered Crème Wafers). Yum.
I know it is a good cookie when I can eat until bursting without feeling sick.

braillediverI haven't had any of those in years. I haven't seen Mallomars locally only Nabisco Pinwheels.

SIGfourmeSeasonal....
That question comes up at this time of year, for like Beaujolais nouveau, Mallomars are not a year-round delicacy, not even in the New York area, where 70 percent of Mallomars are sold. Mallomars return to supermarket shelves in the fall after a warm-weather break. But Mallomars connoisseurs do not celebrate by holding tastings of the new batch or by calling friends to announce "les Mallomars sont arrivés."
There are those who say that Mallomars fans just don't want to share that first bite of the season, a bite "so fresh it would crunch," said Jodi Gray Kahn, an English teacher at Great Neck North High School on Long Island. To hear her tell it, her father seemed to enjoy the first-bite moment even more than she did.
So now is as good a time as any to investigate this New York-area phenomenon, the arrival of the beloved Mallomars, and to plumb some of their mysteries: Why do they melt in hot weather when science has come up with ways to keep pretty much anything from melting? Does the answer, whatever it is, have anything to do with the fact that this cookie, born in New Jersey, is now made in Canada?

This cookie, born in New Jersey
That's funny- Yeah the habit started when I lived in New Jersey. I'll have to see if they're available in the Seattle area.
Thanks Mitch

ranger312My wife is from NYC. Mallomars have been her favorite since childhood. Whenever any NY relatives come for a visit, they know to bring lots of Mallomars (for her only!)

braillediverI wanted to report a Mallomar Sighting at Safeway in Renton, Wa.
Seems to be an isle end display for Holiday cookies. I stocked up.

P210Thanks for the memory. In the early ‘70’s there was a grocery chain in NY, Waldbaums, who’s store brand version made with semi sweet vs milk chocolate many thought were better than the Nabiscos. They appeared and disappeared at the same times and were probably produced under contract by them.

ScurvyI love Mallomars. My buddy's dad would stock up and try to keep them through the spring after they went out of the stores.

doublesharpLouisville area Kroger had them couple weeks ago. I bought a box, nearly $5 for a 10 or 12 oz box. Kinda pricey but they were good. I went back about a week later to get some as a gag gift for my college student niece and they were sold out.
To my taste the store brand is just as good for about 1/2 price.
