2000Z-71Any suggestions for lodging close to University of San Francisco Medical Center?
Soaking the all knowing oracle of knowledge hat is SigForum. Girlfriend is down in California taking care of her dad. They just transferred him from the hospital in Grass Valley to USF Medical Center. He’ll probably be undergoing surgery in the morning. My knowledge of San Francisco is limited to downtown and Union Square. And recommendations on where my lady might be able to stay close to USFMC?

UCSF had multiple hospitals across the city. Do you know which location?

neverfollowSon was at Slone Kettering for cancer treatment. Called the hospital, spoke to patient services and the provided a list of local hotels that provided discounts for hospital patient families. Give the hospital a call and see if they have such an arrangement.

Rey HRHI grew up in San Francisco same as my nephew who retired as a police officer in San Francisco. He advised me to take Uber and not drive a car in San Francisco when visiting. He takes his own advice as he still has his mother and sisters there. Watch your six and where you’re about to place your foot. Good luck.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. oddballYou are likely talking about University of California San Francisco, and not the University of San Francisco, two very different schools.
The original UCSF Medical Center is on Parnassus Ave near Golden Gate Park. UCSF has a newer larger medical center consisting of three hospitals in Mission Bay which is south of the Giants ballpark.

2000Z-71I’m guessing it is UCSF. Her dad was transferred last night. My lady and her mother made the drive down. They’re staying in a local hotel across the street from Golden Gate State Park based on recommendation from staff there. Her dad goes in for surgery in the morning.

kkina "University of San Francisco Medical Center" is a common misnomer for UCSF, which is
"University of California, San Francisco". You'll find this incorrect term all over the internet.
I graduated from USF, which does not have a medical center (good pre-med and nursing programs, though).

We’re alumni then. Entered right after high school. Dropped out. I did finally go back and got a masters from them.

kkinaI dropped after one year also, then went back to finish up. Unfortunately, I never made it to medical school because of my own health prolems, ironically.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome. Uber is probably best to get around. Avoid driving in SF while stressed and avoid dealing with parking at any hospital.

Russ59If the hotel they’re in doesn’t work out, perhaps try a chain hotel in the suburbs and use BART to commute. For example the Marriott in Walnut Creek is next to the BART station. WC is nice and safe.

njautoYou can call the hospital, they more than likely have a list of hotels nearby that will offer a good discount. When I was in SF for 2 months they gave me a list of about 15 hotels.

UCSF has two locations: the newest location is the
Mission Bay Campus which is along the Eastern Edge of the city near the baseball stadium and arena, and the original location is the
Parnassus Campus which is above Golden Gate Park in the middle of the city.
Sounds like your g/f's father is at the Parnassus Campus....unfortunately there's very little hotels/motels in that area. Closest is the
Stanyan Park Hotel which is adjacent to Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Good to hear she was able to find a place, another alternative is to get a AirBnB/VRBO home-share. The nearby Cole Valley neighborhood is very desirable, with lots of places to eat and wander. West of there is the Inner Sunset which has a lot more eateries and shops on Irving & 9th Avenue. All the best towards a successful outcome.
