V-TailFlag Etiquette Question
Is it appropriate to fly the Betsy Ross flag instead of the "standard" American flag on holidays like July 4th and June 14th (flag day)?

ryan81986I don't see why not. Fly it 365 if you want.

clubleaf206Boy, I hope so, I did just that the last couple Independence Days. The general response I received here was that it is my flag and I can fly it if I so choose.

flashguyAny version of an official US Flag is appropriate to be flown--they don't expire.

H&K-GuyPeople fly Rainbow, Equality, Coexist, Save the Wales, and whatever the heck they want, everywhere, all the time. Some people fly hate based, racist based, flags, and worse.
I don't think you have a problem. I don't see anything wrong with this.
Now if you demand your neighborhood subscribe to your newsletter, sell all of their possessions, come and live with you in your compound, fall down and worship your flag, and elect you leader of the universe, you may have a problem.

Modern Day SavagePerhaps it would be appropriate to fly both...a sort of "then" and "now" symbolic gesture.

I think to do that, and do it properly, it would take 2 flagpoles of equal height. I don't think it would be correct to put them on the same pole.

That very thought occurred to me as well. I would think 2 flag poles equal in height would be appropriate... but I do wonder if it would be permissable to fly one on a flag pole and the other from something like a porch mount?

If adjacent, they'd need to be at the same height.

SIGGUY (THE 1ST)I heart says yes. We have Betsy flying at the front of our home 24/7, 365 a year. No one has ever complained nor can I ever imagine anyone doing so.

tacfoleyHere in far-off UK we celebrate 14th of February by flying the state flag of our US 'homeland' of Oregon.
We also fly our own 12 foot by 8 foot maple leaf on July 1st, and in deference to our many American friends, the Stars and Stripes just three days later.
Having our own forty-five-foot-high flag pole at the gun club helps a lot here, I'll agree.

2BobTannerI fly the 15-Star/15-Stripe “Star-Spangled Banner”. I am also in a Kentucky, the 15th State into the Union, so that makes it doubly appropriate.
