Made me smile....we need more smiles

This 3 year old little girl with Cerebral palsy is walking without her walker for the first time ever – and her classmates are cheering her on.

Thanks for sharing this. That’s great! The little ones can see how hard it was and are so excited for her!

Our first daughter was VERY premature and had a bad brain hemorrhage when she was just a day or two old. It affected several functions on her right side including her motor skills. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy on her right side as a result. The doctors weren’t very encouraging at first, but she kept trying and getting better and they decided she shouldn’t use a walker or a brace to try to get her to learn to do it on her own.

It took her months from pulling up to being able to stand on her own, but she couldn’t take a step without falling. Just after she turned 17 months (14 adjusted for prematurity), she finally took a step, decided she had it, and in just a few more trials started walking around the living room like she’d been doing it for weeks while Mommy and I cried and clapped like those kids.
