Steve 22XSenior lifetime national park passes going up in August
Many thanks for posting this information.
Went to East Fork Park today and purchased one for the wife and another for myself.
Should be covered even if we lose one.

IcabodWe visited Yellowstone last month and decided to get ours. Stopped at the West entrance and asked the lady how do we get one? I'd expected the answer "Parked by the admin building..." Nope, big smile and "Yes you get it right here. I'll need your drivers license and ten dollars." It took 5 minutes. Now that's our government at work.

We had a similar good experience at the Begich/Boggs US Forest Service Visitor Center just before the tunnel to Whittier AK.

comet24Passed this along to my parents. They both went to a local park and got one for each of them.

shovelheaddeepocean, thank you for the heads up on the fee increase. Coincidence as the week before the thread started my neighbor's son's father in law told me about that pass, something I never knew about. He was not aware of the price increase though.
I made an appointment at the Shiawassee National Game Refuge and along with a couple of friends took a bike road trip up there. Fifteen minutes we all left with passes in hand. Smooth and easy.

WaterburyBobYou can also get the passes at US Army Corps of Engineers sites.
They built and manage a flood control dam/lake about a mile from my house.
They responded within 30 minutes to my e-mail:
Good afternoon Mr. WaterburyBob,
Yes you can obtain a pass at Hop Brook Lake.
Let us know if you need anything else!

Johnny 3eaglesI've had a Lifetime pass for years, but recently couldn't find it. We went to Hot Springs National Park office, they were out of them, but directed me to the National Forest office across the street. Passed my knives and two magazines to my wife to get through the metal detector and go the the office. Tell my story, and here is my parking pass.. Sorry, I have to have your pass to issue a replacement. I can't find it. If I had it, I wouldn't need a replacement. I can sell you one for $10. I gave her the $10, even though I am allowed to get one for free (handicapped) Government minion wasn't worth messing with.

cparktdGot ours yesterday.
Stopped at the visitors center to Percy Priest Lake in Nashville, it was the closest place to us listed on the website to buy in person. Lady at the desk was very nice and helpful but said a strange thing.
She said they have had a run on them and that they only had one ranger on duty today and
He had run out. Then she explained that there would be 3 rangers on duty tomorrow and that they should have some if we wanted to come back tomorrow. What? The rangers themselves are issued and sell the passes??? (She did not answer that question) I then told her I guess I'd just have to buy on line as we lived 50 miles away and were passing through today and we were hoping to pick them up.
Then she directed me to a campground 15 minutes away and said the ranger there
might still have some. It wasn't much out of our way so that's what we did. The ranger there said he had sold a "bunch" lately but he did have some left, so we scored two.
It just sounded really strange that the Rangers themselves posses and sell the passes vs the office personnel.
Endeavor to persevere. July 07, 2017, 08:56 PM
BlackmoreI called a friend of mine who is 64 and lives over in VT to tell him about this and also told him about the different places you can get them.
"Wait a minute, there's a flood control dam with an office 10 minutes from my house!"
Less than half an hour later he texted me a picture of his newly issued pass. He'd never heard of them either.

Posting to keep it near the top - too good a deal to pass up - got mine today at a US Army Corps of Engineers park 15 minutes from the house. One gate was 'sold out" but the other had plenty.

41 Thanks DeepOcean, got mine Monday at the Afton entrance in less than a minute after getting to the window. There was about a dozen cars waiting to get into the park
Handed him my drivers license and $10 and he handed me the pass to sign on the back.
