IHOP Changes Its Name To IHOb To Prove They Are 'Serious' About a New Menu Item
Step aside, pancakes, there’s a new focus of the menu at IHOP.
The International House of Pancakes just debuted a new line of steak burgers, and to prove the chain is just as “serious about burgers as it is about its world-famous pancakes, it’s flipped the ‘p’ to a ‘b,'” effectively changing the name to IHOb, a company spokesperson said in a statement. The change has been reflected “for the time being” on the restaurant’s Twitter account and other social media handles, as well as on the sign outside of their flagship location in Hollywood, Calif.
For a limited-time, customers nationwide can order off their new Ultimate Steakburger menu, which features seven menu beefy menu items, including a Brunch Burger, Cowboy Barbecue, Jalapeño Kick, Mushroom & Swiss, The Classic, The Classic with Bacon, and Mega Monster (two patties, two cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles and signature sauce). Each new burger is m

ryan81986I'm guessing this is just a marketing ploy, rather than an actual permanent name change.

lkdr1989meh...makes sense, as an eatery, you've got to offer new things on your menu.

ensigmaticLast time I was in an IHOP, the pancakes were execrable, anyway. Have not been back, since.
To me this is like Dunkin' Donuts de-emphasizing donuts to the point of eliminating "donuts" from their name, McDonald's healthifying their fries into tasteless cardboard, and the Miss America Pageant removing the "pageant": What's the point? If you're not going to be the thing you were, just stop being anything other than done with it.

motorheadjohnI was hoping the 'b' was going to be for bacon.
So disappointed.

Ensigmatic, would you mind editing that image out of this thread and taking the complaint to the poster directly vs screwing up the viewing experience for everyone else?
I realize you have a problem with the size of his image, so please email him or start your own thread, it makes this thread unreadable on smaller screens, and basically screws up the experience for everyone else.

229DAKI'm sure spending the $1,000s of dollars to change signage, menus, etc., will be worth it.

I don't have a problem with the image. Doesn't affect
me in the least. Was doing it as a courtesy to those whom it
does affect.
I've deleted the offending post.

egregoreAt least it's just a slight change in/addition to the menu and a marketing/advertising ploy, not giving in to a pressure group.

Hound DogMarketing is important. We bought into the buzz and are discussing them, so it worked.
They have decent burgers there. Should be interesting to see the new menu.

Il CattivoGood. So far IHOb's life has been brutish, short and nasty. If this keeps up, it'll be every man for himself.

PASigDumb.
They are late to the burger craze as that has peaked and is starting to wane.
"IHOP" is famous, and household a name and everyone knows instantly what they mean when they see it. Why would anyone would want to change that is beyond me.

wcb6092Sears to SaeRS /same outcome.
The SaeRS Two-Component System of Staphylococcus aureus
In the Gram-positive pathogenic bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, the SaeRS two-component system (TCS) plays a major role in controlling the production of over 20 virulence factors including hemolysins, leukocidins, superantigens, surface proteins, and proteases. The SaeRS TCS is composed of the sensor histidine kinase SaeS, response regulator SaeR, and two auxiliary proteins SaeP and SaeQ. Since its discovery in 1994, the sae locus has been studied extensively, and its contributions to staphylococcal virulence and pathogenesis have been well documented and understood; however, the molecular mechanism by which the SaeRS TCS receives and processes cognate signals is not. In this article, therefore, we review the literature focusing on the signaling mechanism and its interaction with other global regulators.
