Anyone tried these steaks and chops advertised on TV? It sounds too good for $49.99 for all that meat. Is it any good?

My parents gave us a box of steaks and chops for Christmas last year. Very average at best. Buy from a good local butcher and you will be much happier.

We bought Omaha steaks several times. They are good, but quite frankly, no better (if even as good) than the steaks we get at Costco.

I have found Costco meats to be excellent. It doesn't make sense to me that a discount warehouse type company would sell meat that is so good, but it is.

Decent. No complaints, but nothing to write home about. The best part by far is the dry ice they ship with.

look at the weights of the meats that they are offering,
I priced the same stuff at the local meat market, and they (omaha) was charging twice what the local market was charging.

My mother-in-law gave them to us a couple of times as gifts. Not bad, but not something I would pay for. As others have said, Costco and local butchers have much better selections.

We have a small chain called Roesaurs that has excellent meat. The have weekly sales and we watch for NY Steaks. They sell them for $5.99 a pound and cut them an 1 1/2” thick. I bring them home and vacuum pack them in a seal-a-meal and freeze.

I’ve had Omaha Steaks a couple of times but they don’t begin to rival these.

I agree - You'll get better quality from your local butcher and probably cost less too.

However, I did get a "Black-Tie Gift Box" of dry aged steaks from one of our vendors as a thank you some time ago that was out of this world delicious. They're really expensive, so I'll not be ordering any for myself any time soon. They were from Lobels of New York .

I was given some Omaha Steaks as a present once. They were not what I would call quality steaks. I would never order them myself.

My late mother-in-law thought that they were the cat's meow. She kept sending them to us.

I have had worse, but you can do a heck of a lot better at significantly lower cost.

They are the Gevalia Coffee of the meat industry. Some people like them, others not so much. The one thing they have in common is they pester you to death to buy more.

If you get to Spokane at times, go here for some excellent meat at very reasonable prices. Roesaurs is okay but Sonnenbergs is a lot better. They custom cut and wrap anything you want.

Like others have reported......They are okay, but nothing special with better being had from your local butcher counter at any supermarket. I believe that their appeal is that you can order online or on the phone, and have them shipped to someone as a gift. We have also ordered their apple tarts, fruit pies, hot dogs, hamburgers, kielbasa and other offerings and I was constantly disappointed with the products. No more for me!

I was underwhelmed.

Not anything wrong with them, just not better than I can get at a good grocery store and not as good as what I can get at a decent butcher shop.

Honestly I think that Sams club and Costco here have better steaks.

This! The wife ordered one about two years ago and they hounded us for months to buy more. They finally stopped when I said I was going to call the BBB.

I never ordered any because from their ads on TV it looked like you got damn few steaks and a lot of hamburgers, hot dogs, apple tarts, ...

No doubt a lot of people who want to send a present but don't know what to send will just order this no muss no fuss. One phone call and you're done.

The gift giver may even know they could get a better deal at the local butcher shop, but think of all the trouble to package it up with dry ice and take it to the PO to send it.
