Having been born in a decade were dial telephones and flathead motors were the existent technology, I won't say this can't go anywhere.

But I will suggest that it's going to take longer than we think - we aren't printing guns on 3D machines on the home desktop and taking them to the range for a 500 round shakedown yet. If anything an aerospace maker did that as a publicity stunt and the cost was more than a custom 1911 with meteorite frame.

We played like we had communicators in the late 60's, I actually signed up to use one in 2001. As our abilities expand the timeline is reduced, but going into the basement to kick the fusion reactor into working and cursing like Darren McGavin isn't on my list of things I will do in my life. What I will do is carry in another load of firewood for the stove today. Some old technology still works better than our energy overlords care to admit.

Of course, I did ask Santa for a TR3-B for Christmas again. There seems to be more credible evidence in that direction and at least we have video getting released from the Navy lately. And what powers these potentially gamechanging vehicles? The next generation powerplants, which are gravity well engines.

I view the cold fusion reports as plot spoilers for the final admission we've had the tech for decades but that sort of thing in the hands of the people was considered too dangerous and would lead to a complete loss of control over us. Kinda like concealed carry, a certain group of people would prefer we didn't have guns at all.

That hasn't worked out as well as they thought.

With everyone capable of tapping into nuclear level power, will electrons go running in the street? Not for very long, it's like the MAD doctrine, or being a Super. If everyone is a Super, noone is really Super. We just moved the goal posts is all. Kinda like discovering everyone is immune to a virus. Oh my, no way to control us if that happens.

That is why you don't see things just given to the public. And why some pharmaceuticals are suppressed. Control Or, "do you have a certification for that home boiler/steam engine that makes electricity by burning firewood, citizen?" What some were building and had operating in the early 1900's can't be economically had now. Like hot water heaters with monel tanks - still in operation from the 1930's but very few available on the market new. Can't have that. Selling you a new one in ten years is the preferred goal, same as keeping a revenue stream off of managing a disease by treating the symptoms but not releasing the cure.

Just sayin. Cold fusion has more issues aside from the tech that will slow walk it's introduction and those are what we need to fix.

I don’t think fusion-generated electrical power will be practical for decades. Same for quantum computing.

I truly believe this is why the hydrogen engine cars never became more refined and took off. Kind of hard to exploit us and empty our bank accounts when your car can run off of distilled water. Even scarier to the powers that be is a mechanism than can create an extremely explosive gas along with the perfect accelerant side by side with it.

This was a cool video about magnet breakthroughs related to Fusion. (Sorry I’m on my phone and can’t get the embed code for some reason.)

I remember the skeptics laughing at me when, as a little kid, I played with a Dick Tracy two-way wrist radio. I would now laugh back, but all of those skeptics have died of old age!

I seem to recall the creator of Dick Tracy predicting that the nation that learned to control gravity would rule the universe. I wonder if we will see that prediction come true in my lifetime?

I picture the human mind as a super-computer that suffers from numerous wiring inadequacies that limit its potential. When enough minds are focused together on the same goal, somtimes miraculous inventions result - even nuclear fusion

As a kid watching early television science-fiction shows about Buck Rogers and space travel, I was the ultimate skeptic that they could actually get a rocket to reverse course and slowly land on its tail fins. Elon Musk has made me a believer that time, dedication, and monetary capital can cure a lot of us skeptics.

Sounds promising, but I've been hearing that fusion power will be viable 'in about 30 years' since I was a kid in the early 60's.
