Yep. You can wipe down a warm pan with oil and there will be zero fibers left behind.

Just this morning I bought another box and keep them in my pantry. Crazy useful to have in the kitchen.

Scott Shop Towels Original (75190), Blue, Pop-Up Dispenser Box, 10" x 12", 200 Sheets per Box https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008..._api_i_xtzoEbJHGBWY7

I’m wondering if those are the same as the ones I buy on the roll. Same brand same manufacturer. I buy them by the case at Costco. They are also available as a single roll, 2 or 3 pack, etc at wallymart.

I use them for many things, including bathroom cleaning. They don’t fall apart like regular paper towels. In fact somehow I unintentionally ran a few through the washer and dryer. I was not only surprised to find them in the dryer, they were still intact, in good shape, and ready to reuse.

Random cooking tip:

I’ve found that keeping a box of blue disposable “shop towels” in the kitchen is the way to go when it comes to wiping down cast iron pans. Unlike regular paper towels, shop towels do not leave any type of lint residue.

One more random tip regarding Cast Iron.

With the snow gone and the gas grill out, it is time for me to season my cast iron pans again. I do it a few times a year on the grill so I can get them HOT, oiled and smoky without stinking up the house.

I’m looking for a new cast iron 12” griddle (with the grooves for grill marks).

I’m as much of a brand whore as anybody, but I can get a Lodge for $40 vs. LeCreuset for about $240.
Other than the fancy French name, am I getting anything more for my extra $200?

To reinvigorate the cast iron thread, here is a really informative video on identifying cast iron you may have already or will see in thrift stores.

Of particular interest to me was the section on pans marked “Made in the USA”. This was done exclusively from 1960 to the present, and not prior. All pans sold in the US were required to have the country of origin stamped on them after that point. I have great pans marked thusly that I now know the provenience for, at least the oldest they could possibly be.
