I ordered an engine hood with the prime delivery and the place then refused to ship and claimed "free delivery" was local pickup. In Texas.

I ordered the hood off eBay out of Miami for less with free delivery and it was at my house in three days. No yearly "prime fee" required.

That surely isn't good service but good you finally got it worked out on the charges and got your product elsewhere. That considered, I'd guess there quite a few more positive feelings toward Amazon than negative. (politics aside) I've been on the Prime program for 3 years and have never regretted signing up. I buy from then at least weekly... many times items I could probably find locally at the same price, but hey, free shipping and I don't need to leave the house. Then of course there's the TV, books and music. One of the things I like about shopping at Amazon (and most on line sellers) is you get a full description of the product, consumer reviews and Q&A. Amazon goes so far as to suggest alternatives to what you are looking at and gives comparative lists. How great is that.

I ordered a flashlight from Amazon last Wednesday and it was on my porch Friday. Helps that my UPS guy is first rate. He arrives with my stuff at 11:30 AM anytime I am due a package. Even in the snow!
The USPS? You pays your money and takes your chances!

I do shop a lot at Amazon, BUT I do compare to Walmart and Target and other retailers for the same/similar item.

With the Target red card, they ship anything to you for free, just like Amazon, and give you 5% off for using their card on top of the free shipping. Amazon also gives you 5% off if you charge the purchase to their credit card as well.

I get great delivery speed as well. I’m pretty sure it’s due to living in the Chicago metro area and the fact that there’s an Amzn fulfillment center just over the border in Kenosha, WI.

My personal favorite is getting the $1 credit for choosing “No Rush” shipping, yet they still usually deliver in 2 days regardless. Razz

When you live in the middle of nowhere, Amazon is many times the only source for much of what I need/want. Prices are good and delivery is 99% as promised.

What else can I expect?

Does anyone else here start their shopping at smile.amazon.com?

Same low prices, but a small percentage of the price goes to a charity of your choice, including some veteran friendly charities like Hope for the Warriors.

Whenever possible I try to buy at locally owned businesses, even if I have to pay a couple bucks more. I usually find myself ordering off Amazon though, because I can almost always find the exact product that I want, in the size or color I want, for a better or competetive price; and it'll be at my door in 2 or 3 days, usually with free shipping.

HA! I clicked the link and perused the page until I came to "What other items do customers buy after viewing this item?" Answer was a 2-pack! HA!

Lee Precision 308 trimmer ordered from Amazon arrived today but the shell holder threads were buggered. Another is now on the way. No fuss, no return.
