there is an Amazon fulfillment center in Houston, and the Spyderco Dragonfly knife I ordered yesterday has been delivered to me in less than 24 hours by their in-house delivery service.

No extra charge over my normal Prime membership. And the knife is a few bucks less than at the internet knife sellers.

I don't have any interest in Amazon. But I find they usually deliver timely and the price is usually in the ballpark on most items.

I got no beef with Amazon. Buy tons of stuff from them. Latest was a pair of Comtrend G.hn powerline Ethernet bridges. $70. Ordered late Saturday afternoon. Was on my doorstep at 09:30 Monday morning.

Btw: They're still renting delivery vehicles, but I saw one of the new Amazon trucks drive down our street a couple weeks ago.

My only complaint is that I didn't buy the stock when it was cheap.

I ordered on Saturday, got it yesterday (Mom).

Actually it is to easy to buy from them.
Better than setting up individual accounts at every vendor.

As long as the price is in line - why not? (other than the founder is a Libtard).

I like Amazon aside from some of their politics (WaPo, etc. - I know that's Bezos.)

As for their merchandising, they cannot be beat. You may not always get the lowest price, but their service is pretty great. Returns are usually no issue.

I DID buy the stock when it was cheap and I'm thankful for that. It seems that is one of the very few good investments I made.

Between links to products here and Amazon service, I spend way too much there. As an example I bought these because of a recommendation from a member recently.

Love Amazon. You do have to be careful of “too good to be true”. I think they’re doing a good job staying ahead of counterfeiting. But I’m wary of buying “premium brands”.

I spend so much money at Amazon that Jeff Bezos called me up last week and offered to fly me out to Seattle for lunch. He said I could even fuck his sister.

I think you are okay if you stick with goods actually stocked and sold by Amazon. You do have to be more careful with items sold by third party sellers.

They kept repeatedly charging me for a prime membership and instead of refunding, insisted I just let the charges carry over to the next year. Had to cancel the credit card as they KEPT charging it. Took months to get my money back sans interest accrued.

I ordered an engine hood with the prime delivery and the place then refused to ship and claimed "free delivery" was local pickup. In Texas.

I ordered the hood off eBay out of Miami for less with free delivery and it was at my house in three days. No yearly "prime fee" required.

Interestingly enough: eBay's buyer protection is better than Amazon's when the seller on Amazon is not Amazon.

Amazon has filled a niche like Sears did years ago.

I needed a GE microwave 2.0 cu ft to replace one that went bad and as part of the offer from GE I had to purchase another GE product and submit the bill together with the claim form for reimbursement.

Wal-Mart, Lowe's and Home Depot had none in stock Local Sears catalog store was in it's death rattles, even if they weren't it would have been the rites of futility. Tried two years ago to buy a refrigerator there. What a joke, the two twenty-somethings could not take time to walk over to ask if I needed anything. Next city over is a regional appliance chain but I will not step foot into any of their stores. Home Depot in fact no longer carries GE's, Magic Chef only. So off to Amazon I go. Amazon Prime, two days later it's sitting on our porch.

Grocery items, fat-free brownie mix. Don't make fun of me, Cardiologist imposed diet. None of the national, regional or independent chains around here no longer carry any of them. I order them from Amazon six to a box. So a twelve month supply delivered to my door.

Plus, using their house credit card I can get six months no interest. Made Christmas shopping much easier on a fixed income when I got my wife and myself our I-Pads. One local chain actually had them cheaper but with a hook, you purchased it at full retail and you got a coupon back to $100, Amazon was $20 higher but coupons tend to get lost or forgotten.

Just bought a bathroom scale. amazon price was $33 total for prime shipping to my son. Walmart price for the exact same thing was $25 promised up to 10 days delivery.

Went with the Walmart price and delivery time was 4 days. $8 is about the regular shipping cost.

YMMV

I buy a lot from Amazon. I always choose free shipping and it shows up in 2-3 days anyway. I would call it "great service".

Be careful not to hit the "Get free shipping with Amazon Prime" button! You get signed up for Prime.

Yeah... I think you can often do better than Amazon on price, but you can't get it faster.
There are more Amazon delivery vehicles on my street sometimes than residents vehicles. Roll Eyes

Walmart and Home Depot are both improving their websites and e-buying capabilities in response to Amazon.
Competition is a beautiful thing!

I haven't seen them there. Next time I go I will look and try and find them. Like I said, I'm addicted to them. Smile

I do too and use that card almost exclusively.

I buy a lot of things on Amazon, but not everything. I've come to really like Walmart.com for many items.

I also like Amazon as an investment. I've owned it for years now and am happy with the return.

This^^^

My biggest gripe is it is almost too easy!

I have found it helps to stifle the non essential impulse, want vs need buys, if I add the the item to my wish list instead of the cart and revisit it a day or days later. Sometimes I go ahead and get it. Sometimes the sparkle has worn off and I dump it. Sometimes I end up sitting on it for a long time.

I also use fakespot to scan the reviews looking for a lot of fake or removed reviews. I have not bought an item based on that a couple times.

Collecting dust.
