Gift for BSN Completion?
Sister just finished her BSN coursework. She's been a working RN for 10 years, so I don't really know what to get to commemorate it. Any suggestions?

I figure she will likely continue through Nurse Practitioner, but have yet to hear her confirm that. Or an MBA and a switch to the admin side of the hospital. She is the ambitious sibling.

If she is going to go the NP route she will likely need a good cardiology stethoscope

Seed money to help her pay for an NP or CRNA education. Wink

Or...a good strong attaboy.

There's likely nothing she needs work related as she's already been on the job for 10 years, so perhaps think of something a bit more personal for her.

A nice frame for her diploma(s) might not be a bad idea.

A big bottle of whatever she likes to drink to make the pain go away.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

If she doesn't already have one of these that she likes Littman Classic III you can get it engraved for her.

That's $70 less than what I paid for mine and engraving wasn't available.

Take her out to a nice dinner. She should already have lots of nursing items like a stethoscope.

Yeah, I wasn't really looking for nursing gear. She has most of what she needs. Just wasn't sure if there was a traditional gift for such, like a briefcase for lawyers.
Ideas appreciated. She does drink, so I might get a bottle of something nice & call it good for this one.

If she’s any kind of a decent nurse (when it comes to assessments at least), she already has a good stethoscope. +1 for the Cardiology III if she doesn’t. It’s all Mrs.BurtonRW uses.

I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888

Fenix LD05 V2.0 EDC LED Flashlight with UV Lighting

Basically multi level brightness white in a AAA battery "penlight" size with Ultra Violet light capability. Have it engraved with her name so other nurses and doctors don't steal it. Much nicer than the normal junkie penlights they all carry around.

She'll love it since that in addition to her stethoscope will be carried every single day and her most useful tool.

You would be surprised how many nurses walk around with stethoscopes that look like they came out of a gumball machine. That or they use the freebie yellow isolation ones.
