Couple questions about how you use it.

Will it be commuting/traveling with you?
If yes, something in a business class with more robust construction.

Do you need a numeric keypad?
I do taxes and spreadsheets and a numeric keypad is a mist.

What type of keyboard do you prefer?
I can't stand chicklet keyboards on laptops.

Do you have a preference in screen size?
My eyes suck. 17" screen for me.

That i5 is a 2 core processor. I'd get a four core at a minimum.

This is what I got my daughter for Christmas: https://m.dell.com/h5/m/r/outl...V2ExjFbuDCyAQqzmk%3d

I don't need the cheapest computer, but I don't want to spend money on power and capacity I won't use.

What is your price range? That will help narrow down suggestions.

I'd go no lower spec wise than an Intel I5, 8GB memory and an SSD. I'm somewhat brand loyal to Lenovo, because that's we use and deploy at work. Good build quality and reliability, maybe not the cheapest though. My daily driver for the past 5 years has been a T430 and it runs like a top, especially after I put an SSD in it.

I'm a MS Surface Pro fan boy/whore. Give one of them a look. They work as a laptop / tablet / desktop really well.
