I have studied health issues since the early 80's when I noticed a co-worker taking vitamins. He gave me a list of books to read and I also subscribed to several health newsletters.

Today, one of the better organizations is the Life Extension Foundation. You can read their magazine online. They also offer a low cost blood test done by Lab Corp.

My wife is big into researching vitamins for us with things we have going on. I take Centrum Silver men 50+, 1000mg C, 100mg Magnesium Citrate, 4000 D3, 2400mg Fish oil, 800mg CoQ10.

Citrate versions are supposedly easer to absorb.

Always take a multi vitamin, now One A Day, lately 50 mg zinc, for 35 years 500 to 1000 mg vitamin C. Now taking Ester-C 1000 mg. Swallow that horse pill with water.

I take a multi vitamin twice a week and a B complex once a week. Both in standard amounts and not mega levels. My problem is finding pills that are made in USA. Not made in China. These companies are very tricky and some are intentionally misleading (unethically so).

I take a Mature Mens Multi Vitamin, D3 and B12 every other day. I keep Vitamin C on hand and usually take it during the winter cold season.

My Doc says as long as I eat healthy meals, not junk, and eat a variety of foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, I should not need vitamins and minerals every day, he says it's just a waste.

My Doc recommends an annual blood panel test, he reviews it and recommends whatever supplements I need based on the results.

I have several family members who swear by Link to Nutrition Express they believe they are just about the best quality you can get. Go to their website, down at the bottom, and order a free paper catalog to be sent to you. I have one and it's very interesting. I have not ordered from them but I am getting ready to order a few things.

Does taking D3 really help your levels? Can anyone point to bloodwork? I take them. Not sure if it helps.

I took D for a period. Saw no changes in bloodwork. (Several times). Literature seems skeptical of efficacy and absorption.

I tried Centrum Silver.... I'm 48.

I have tried 3 different times, within 2-3 hours, I am ready for a colonoscopy. Absolutely cannot take it.

So, I take 1000 mg C, and Vitamin D.
