Down goes Kentucky!
I love it when those little schools show the big dogs how to play ball.

Gonzaga will win it all though, so it's kind of pointless to even continue the tournament.

mrapteam666I am not a huge basketball fan but I always root for the Univ. of Richmond regardless of the sport.
For about 12 years we lived adjacent to the Univ and during that time my jogging/stumbling route included campus..
I would like to see them make it to the sweet 16.
I think their next opponent is #4 Providence, who is no stranger to the contest..

k5blazerI don’t watch it, but it was nice to hear that my alma mater upset UConn.

Ironmike57That's what they said last year! I have Purdue winning it this year.

Go, Hokies!!

God bless America. March 18, 2022, 02:35 PM
HRKDon't think Gonzaga wins it, weak conference, few top level opponents, they are never tested, and when they were, Duke and ALabama beat them.
San Francisco, St Marys, Santa Clara, Portland, Pacific, Pepperdine, not exactly cream of the crop when it comes to D1 top level competition.
Their bracket has Memphis, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas Tech, Michigan State and Duke and possible opponents it's a tough bracket, which is surprising since it's the Coach K aloha tour, Duke usually gets the chalk bracket.
Baylor now has a clear path, North Carolina is their biggest challenge as UNC is up now. UCLA isn't that good and had to work hard to beat 13 Akron, St Marys is a Gonzaga conference team that plays slow ball to win, Baylor and UNC should handle them
I'm guessing Baylor, AZ, Duke and Kansa with Duke getting the win on the coach K aloha free ride tour...
and duke sucks....

tatortoddPurdue went through Yale like a hot knife through butter. They play with winner of Texas vs VA Tech.
When I was a freshman, Purdue's current head coach was the starting point guard. My junior year, Glenn Robinson won Naismith player of the year and Purdue made it to the Elite 8.

Green HighlanderMy upset special pick for today is Colgate over Wisconsin. Colgate is the 2nd most accurate team in the nation on 3 pointers and have been here before and are not intimidated by anyone. They beat Syracuse back in December. I also think that teams from the Big 10 often under-perform in the tourney.

Well, I just heard Barkley picking Arizona to win it all, so you've got that going for you...or maybe it's a curse.

He's picked Gonzaga in the past and they haven't done it yet.

Powers77Man, Illinois dodged a bullit. They may be dangerous now. Not likely to play that bad again.

craglawnmanorI hated watching the end of the Illinois vs UT-Chattanooga game. I definitely pulled for Chatt, as I have 2 kids with an undergraduate degree from there, and a third with a graduate degree.
Our 2nd daughter worked for the head trainer at UTC as a water girl for the football team. You can laugh, but she was caled a Hydration Specialist. Plus, she recieved FULL tuition, along with plenty of gear (Think SWAG) for the four years she did this.
She, along with her mother & a couple of her sisters (we have six kids) still wear some of the gear she got.

They were inconsistent against outgunned Wright State. Never really threatened, but turned the ball over enough to give the underdogs hope.

Gustofer7 out of 16 games have a 10+ ranked team in round two. That's a lot, and I'd bet that most, if not all of them will not last. There's going to be some really tough Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games assuming the 1-4s keep going. If Gonzaga makes it past Arkansas they'll be facing either Duke or Texas Tech. Either of those two will be brutal. We'll see what they are made of and whether or not that "weak conference" argument holds any water. It hasn't in the past.
It's going be good from here on. Stock up on beer and warm up the easy chair.

The 'weak' conference argument against Gonzaga is getting a little old now. The WCC has 3 teams in the tournament this year for the first time and I see 2 of them possibly getting to the sweet 16. Also Mark Few has the strongest bench he's had in years. They finished games handily when Timme and Holmgren got cold. I've followed the Zags for a very long time and this team is the best I've seen despite the 3 loses.
Fun times are on the way.
Jim
