It’s amazing how fast the vehicle accelerates once they broke the sound barrier..

I didn’t know which existing SpaceX thread to put this in, but as today’s launch was GPS-III 06 for Space Force, so this seemed like a good one.
My oldest, with his learner’s permit, was driving me and my youngest to school this morning.
Youngest says’ “Dad, what’s that squiggly line in the sky?”
I look, it looks vertical, but squiggly not like an airplane contrail. It’s in the right direction, so I say, “It’s gotta be a rocket launch.” Then a second line starts above the first. It was a rocket launch and the second line was after the first stage had separated.
The first stage stuck its landing.
We are on the other side of the state. It’s not everyday we see a sunrise rocket launch. This message has been edited. Last edited by: trapper189,

I see stuff like this. Then I just shake my head and think to my self. "We are a bunch of clever monkeys aren't we?!"

That first stage touch down still amazes me. Not just the location precision but the smoothness.

I don’t think any other country has been able to do anything like it.

Or the double booster return... Always amazed.
How about the Falcon Heavy Triple booster return? Really something, Two on land side by side, and a couple minutes later... the main out on a ship due to it being too far out to return to land.

The space travelers in Heinlein's books "Rocket Ship Galileo" and "The Rolling Stones" were doing it all the time.

I have a dim memory of that. I think the manned reusable boosters were called “push pots”.
Serious about crackers.

The rocket ships in those books were single stage.

The vertical landings are science fiction brought to life. Catching the Starship in the towers arms will be another level of fantastic.

No big deal - Buck Rogers was doing that all the time back in the early 1950's. That was when the whole world was black and white - God hadn't invented color yet.
