Pickle flavored popcorn? No thank you, I'll pass.

Nano tech?

Microvision was around $1.80 yesterday morning. Today they opened at something like $2.38 (wife tries to tell me an hours before I [want to] wake up - not pretty but I tolerate it)
Ticker symbols?
No need to hold back, others buying doesn't hurt him ;D
Oh please - everyone buy some.

MVIS and NANO - both on NASDAQ
how do you know its going to go to 15 or 20 a share? at 1.80 or even 2.38 you would have to be dumb not to.
There's talk of a buyout. Each billion in purchase price will bring the share values up $7ish dollars per share. If there buyout happens at $3 billion, each share would be worth $21 ish dollars.
They have patents on some interesting tech, including solid state lidar technology and laser projection/hologram tech, which could be valuable considering the sophistication of sensors and displays being used now in consumer goods (self driving cars, wearables, etc).
Wish I had known about it sooner, but I don't think it's too late to get in.

LS1 GTOXLT - I don't know if it's going to go up. The kid does some extensive research. I think the post above explains but truth be told, my forte is managing $20M annual programs.

LS1 GTOAlso, don't misunderstand, the kid does not have all his eggs in one basket. He's just really excited about the two mentioned in this thread.

apprenticeInteresting for sure. However, when I try searching the ticker symbol NANO I don't get any likely results until page two or so, and they don't describe companies that make sense.
What is the exact company name please?
Probably a basic mistake on my part, but would like to take a look at the stock if possible.

I believe it's
Nano Technologies (correction) Nano Dimension. Something to do with 3D printing of circuit cards. (Info from his non-tech mom.) Might be an Israeli company which trades on the NASDAQ.
Hee and his girlfriend are coming down for the week. Likely the worst kept secret ever, he's going to propose to her next Friday while on the bay. My wife is uber excited.

Hope the girl thing works out well for him as well.

There are no capital gains taxes if you're in the bottom 2 tax brackets, so unless he has another job, I don't think he has to pay any taxes on the gains.
Capital gains only apply for positions held longer than 1 year. If you sell the stock, commodity, etc. less than a year after buying, it is taxed as regular income.

LS1 GTOSo on Monday just after the opening bell, the kid bought 2,000 shares of Kodak. Yesterday he sold them at near peak.

AeteoclesSounds like he's on tear.
Does he have a day job? What's he using to source his rumors--because no way anyone would have invested in Kodak without knowing about the government intervention.

Holy smokes, so he cleared over $100k that's incredible. I gave a buddy of mine a hard time on the Kodak deal. He's usually good for tips like that and missed the boat on that one. I had to razz him about it.

Trading.

He was laid off for c-19 and not called back. Took $100 of his unemployment to dabble in day trading.
My wife and I think he's found his new day job.

Kid started out May 6 with his first but on May 11.
That original $100 is nearly $200k now.
We have a family friend who's now walking him through how to liquidate his profits with minimal tax hit.

AeteoclesI will say that this thread has gotten me interested in trading. Started surfing on Stocktwits and Reddit to see what kind of noise is out there. Any tips your son wants to share?

Get up four to five hours before trading opens, research what happened in Hong Kong, Japan, and London. Look for trends. Also, research, research research stocks you're interested in to see if there's a hidden gem of info which shows the stock is undervalued.
When trading opens, but your shares. Set a max min sell on your shares and take a three hour nap (unless there's a lot of activity).
Wake up, determine what's happening (look for trends) and; research, research research companies which catch your eye. Buy or sell just before the closing bell.
Watch what's happening during aftermarket trading. Buy/sell accordingly and do not be afraid of the terminology "profit taker."
Continue your research into stocks which catch your interest. Learn new aspects and strategies (or mature what you already know.
Go to bed bed about six hours after the closing bell. Be ready to wake up in five hours.
Reserve Saturdays for researching companies.

AeteoclesSo, just looping back to this and wanted to thank LS1 GTO for getting me started on another hobby.
Although statistically I'm likely to loose all of my money trading if given a long enough timeline, 2020 has so far not sucked. So, thanks!

LS1 GTOFYSA - just found out the kid "made" around $150K last year. Oh and I was incorrect, he started with $600 (his whole socialist stimulus check), not $100.
He also has a tax accountant. LOL
