CZ buying Colt
I'm sure everyone has their own hopes for this merger, and their own standards for determining whether those hopes are met.

Myself, I'm looking for well-made 1991A1s in .38 Super and 9mm as well as .45ACP priced at $800 or less. There's nothing that yet another $1,200+ Dan Wesson 1911 - whether branded as a Colt or not - is going to do for me, and I'd be shocked if they finally branched the Dan Wesson revolvers out from .357 Magnums again.

OTOH, it would be nice to see U.S.-produced BRENs.

How about a Colt Python that actually is nicer than the originals? With the same guys who are behind DW this isn’t a far fetched idea. Colt could actually be a company you buy for something beyond the prancing pony.

Well, they formally done it - Colt is now part of CZ.

Now we'll find out if there's anything to this other than (1) CZ trying to get more .gov contracts and (2) CZ trying to duck under any future import bans.

I am optimistic at this point. I have had some experience with non functional Colt 1911s but all the Czs I have bought worked fine. Hopefully that will be true for a Colt re-birth.

Colt has been so up and down over the years with some "less than great quality" products. I own a number of old Colts and they are great!! If this move gets Colt back on the right path to good products, then I think it will be a move in the correct direction.

Did anyone checkout CZ's stock price $370/share! They are killing it. Colt got paid $220M and over 1.098M shares in stock options.

With the new biden* "administration," I'll bet the latter scenario is very much on their minds.

Probably what Colt should have done 20 years ago, produce the Snake guns that people wanted with real machinist parts and quality craftsmanship.

I have several CZ bolt rifles. If they can make colt revolvers at a rational price and with the quality control CZ has become known for it will be a win. Didn’t colt just wipe out like 400mm in debt in bankruptcy? Now wonder the deal became financially viable for CZ

I have always been very fond of CZ products. I currently have a PO7 and a Scorpion carbine. Have in the past had a 75B and have been lusting for a Shadow for awhile. Imo CZ has the best fit and finish on a consistent basis of all the other guns I have owned at the same price point. Including FN's and Sigs. Always have gotten my moneys worth with CZ. Hopefully they can bring that to Colt.

Scuttlebutt, at least, is that they have decided to just plain stop making Dan Wesson revolvers of any kind. (&$#!!(*)$+!!) If that's true, then that leaves CZ with a wide open avenue to start producing Colt revolvers.

I'm still pissed about the Dan Wesson revolvers, though.

You scared me there for a second. They never should stop Dan Wesson 1911’s, their revolvers I have no experience with. Their 1911’s are the best, not only in quality but in beauty. Their restraint when rollmarking their guns is outstanding. The slide simply, small and tastefully says the model, Valor. Not another marking at all. Beretta could learn a lesson here if you Italian fucks are listening. Lol

A Python that is actually better than the original is not a pipe dream here. CZ can do it. I know all you original Python guys hate this prospect but the rest of us don’t. A modern gun, modern manufacture, built to current Dan Wesson standards of fit and finish would be better than an original Python. There I said it, heresy. Yet still true.

Cz will bring quality production standards & processes to the Colt lineup. Expect to pay a premium but in exchange a much better product..

Well, that's what I'm afraid of - both because I'm very much an admitted cheapskate, and for the future of Colt. Better product? Sure, I'm all for it. Premium pricing? Screw backing Colt into a niche corner - after all those years of people trying to milk the premium tier of the industry, that company desperately needs a chance to put a great Colt in every household!

Now, what are the odds of CZ moving production to a gun-friendly open-shop state?

Perhaps we will see top quality Colt SAA on a regular basis, for a "reasonable" price.

Seems like a good thing to me.

Anything going forward has to be better than the dumpster fire that was Colt. Regardless of pricing.

In terms of pricing I own some of CZ’s top shelf products. Dan Wesson Valors and a Shadow 2. I actually think the pricing is reasonable considering the quality and what you would pay some other manufacturer to get their similar product.

This is nothing but good news.

Oh, no argument about their premium stuff being very good. I'm just sick of the only "good" option being a "premium" option, as is the case with Dan Wesson 1911s.

CZ has never been good with keeping their great, non maintstream guns in the supply chain......ever see a CZ 75B SA new for sale in person? A CZ 75 S/S matte or shiny? Certain models like the regular cz 75B you see for sale....but many others you just don't.....they do too short of a run, once a year, and they're all gone before they even hit any shelves.......
