The Department of Justice indicted U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and his wife Imelda on Friday with multiple charges for alleged conspiracy and bribery uncovered through a federal investigation into American businessmen with ties to Azerbaijan.

According to the indictment unsealed Friday in the Southern District of Texas, Cuellar and his wife accepted close to $600,000 in bribes from a state-owned oil and gas company in Azerbaijan and a bank headquartered in Mexico City between 2014 and 2021. In return, Cuellar advocated for the interests of Azerbaijan and the Mexican bank in the United States.

The DOJ alleges that the Cuellars' scheme also involved "unlawful foreign influence and money laundering" carried out "pursuant to sham consulting contracts" through "a series of front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar, who performed little to no legitimate work under the contracts."

A press release from the DOJ states that Cuellar's end of the alleged bribery scheme included an agreement to "use his office to influence U.S. foreign policy in favor of Azerbaijan" and "influence legislative activity and to advise and pressure high-ranking U.S. Executive Branch officials regarding measures beneficial to the bank" in Mexico.

Rep. Cuellar and his wife were each charged with the following (listed with maximum penalties for each count if convicted):

two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery of a federal official and to have a public official act as an agent of a foreign principal (five years in prison each)
two counts of bribery of a federal official (15 years in prison each)
two counts of conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud (20 years in prison each)
two counts of violating the ban on public officials acting as agents of a foreign principal (two years in prison each)
one count of conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering (20 years in prison)
five counts of money laundering (20 years in prison each)

That may have been this Dem's problem, he didn't include Hunter and the flat 10% for the "Big Guy".

Keeping my eye on Sen. Robert Menendez and his arm candy wife. The knives are out and the Gov of NJ Nominated his wife to succeed him! She got immediate support of the democratic machine only to fizzle out after revealing she was a Virginia Republican prior to her hideous husband marrying her and went on to buy the NJ Governorship.

And he is pro life:

Cuellar, lone anti-abortion Democrat in House, faces third showdown with progressive Cisneros

I would also bet the Democrats are fairly sure another Democrat will replace him so the long knives are out.

The Demonrats don't tolerate anybody thinking for themselves and having public beliefs different than the DNC. The penalty for not being a lemming varies by who you are:
  • Ordinary citizen - you're ostracized by the other lemmings you thought were your friends.
  • Social media influencer - they sick their paid schills in both old media and new media on you which inspires their legions of useful idiots to both physically stalk and cyber stalk you.
  • Politician - they're shown the file that the FBI has on them. If they heed the warning, the file goes back in safe keeping and we never hear about it. If they choose to ignore that warning, their FBI file is given to the local US Attorney and we see stories like Cuellar.

He dipped his toe in the water off the left wing plantation.
Guilty as hell and not smart how he took the money but not that much different than countless others.

Fettermen may be OK as he's been pro-Jewish and the antisemitism may be the fatal flaw in the system I described

Section 8 of Pew Research's 2020 report shows that the US Jewish vote isn't as monolithic as people think it is:
  • ~80% Democrat - cultural Jews (i.e. not religious) and reform Jews.
  • ~20% Democrat - Orthodox Jews.
  • Not much differences in age or marriage status.
  • The longer the time spent in college the more liberal indoctrination they received.
  • Despite all of the above, the Jews rated Trump's handling of Israel as excellent or good. He was 12% ahead of the Demonrats and that's 2020 before all of the existing antisemitism became front page news for months on end.

The DNC continuing to take foreign money from Muslim nations and support antisemitism may move the Jewish to vote Republican or stay home. Politicians #1 priority is being re-elected so it's possible too many Congressional Critters break from the DNC rendering their existing system of intimidation unusable.
