Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: worthwhile? Login/Join

Just learned of the existence of this thing.

"You can opt-out of having making your site activity available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (gtag.js, ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) that is running on websites from sharing information with Google Analytics about visit activity.

Using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on will not prevent site owners from using other tools to measure site analytics. It does not prevent data from being sent to the website itself or in other ways to web analytics services."

I'm already running AdBlocker Ultimate, Cookie AutoDelete, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, Privacy Badger, and have my browser set to block trackers.

I use Comodo Internet Security Premium (firewall & anti-virus) as primary with Windows Defender also active.

I regularly run CCleaner and Malwarebytes (including their separate AdwCleaner).

So is this Google add-on worthwhile or not?

It shouldn’t make any difference. Back when I had a fashion blog, Google Analytics told me how many hits I had on my site, which pages/entries, if the user clicked on something else and stayed, where they came from, time spent on site, etc.

If you’re just using a web browser to surf, and aren’t a site owner, I don’t think it makes a difference. It just wouldn’t show the site owner your data, which sucks for them.

If you’re trying to be completely anonymous, I guess this could help, but it’s the internet. You’re leaving an IP footprint pretty much anywhere you go.

I've run just about all of the ad blockers at one time or another. AdBlocker Ultimate does the best job with ads.

Brave browser seems to do well too as an alternative to Firefox for anyone that likes to experiment with this type off stuff.
