Are you talking about PEMF (Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field) therapy? Funny you should mention, I am currently using a PEMF device to treat my brain injury. It's too soon to make a judgment call, but even at this early stage I'm inclined slightly to say it seems to be doing something. My thinking has been a little more cohesive lately. Formal studies also support possible effectiveness. Granted, this is completely different from the static magnetic field therapy the OP referred to. The idea is that cellular metabolism is hugely mediated by charged biomolecules (i.e. ions), and that chemistry inside a magnetic field facilitates reactions or simply increases blood flow for healing. Unfortunately, there is a lack of supportive studies at this time for if it actually does work. Jury's still out for this one. I am glad that at least some people are experiencing some kind of relief, for whatever reason.

That's because it is. The placebo effect is very real and has done a lot of good for a lot of people over the years. The mind is a very powerful thing and we've just scratched the surface of what it can do. OTOH, Electricity can do good things for pain and swelling as evidenced by the TENS machines. They work and there's scientific evidence backing up how they work. I got to be one of the guinea pigs for these when they were in development in R&D many years ago and and as a result I keep one around the house.
