That was well worth watching. I can't imagine what must have been going through his head while he was on that flight. Powerful stuff.

I also laughed, rather joyfully at the obvious big grin on his face after takeoff and they cut to the view after they had ascended and he was steering with a mild bank angle. I was more happy than sad to watch and listen to him. I am more upset just writing this than when watching and am reminding myself of the George Patton quote:

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."

Thanking God - and thank you so much for posting.

It's amazing that a pilot was reunited with his old airplane after so many years.

What was the pilot doing with his left hand most all the time?

My neighbor's father was a c47 pilot. On D-Day he made 2 trips there and 1.5 trips back! The stories he told!!

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

If I understood him correctly, there were 72 C47's in his D Day flight. I can't even imagine getting that many airborn at one time and in not very good weather. They were amazing young men that raised the bar high. God bless and God speed all.

Thanks for posting. How cool is that, 95 years old and fly your old plane a few days before you head for the big hangar in the sky! What a way to go!
