Since I've been a member every once and a while I try to put my avatar picture over on the left with my member name... as you can see I do have it as my signature. but for the life of me I can't figure out how to put it over where it belongs. it is the right size and is from Postimage.org and I have no problem posting pictures here but this just is something I can't figure out.

EDIT: Finally went back to this thread to see which hosting site to use for my avatar and saw Orguss's offer and took 'them' up on it... Looks like it works! THANKS!

FWIW - I can’t do a postimage avatar either, hence old Samuel C. in the spot.

Sounds like postimage does not allow hotlinking.

I used "imgur", I first resized picture with paint on my pc (imgur resize feature doesn't work well for me). Then uploaded to imgur.
Imgur requires you make an account. Copy the direct link from imgur, then paste into your SIGforum profile, under where you post your email.

For most pictures I use postimage, no account needed and the resize feature works fine.

So, it sounds like it is an issue with postimage which is really strange because I've never had a problem posting a picture in a thread from there here. I've actually paid them money.....

I fired photo#uckit when they tried to hit me with their 'slight' price increase. Are they still around?

Sounds like I might have to try Greymann's "Imgur" just for an avatar.

Yes, use Imgur. Postimage is great for everything except Avatars.

I'm hosting a few other avatars for people, as well. You can always let me know if and when you want to change it in the future.

Thanks. Now I have to figure out why my server is being rejected.

You're not supposed to click the link. He was supposed to copy and paste it into the textbox for custom avatar, which he clearly has done.

I am not having any luck trying to post my avatar that is on imgur. Not matter what link I tried it says "The provided avatar URL does not appear to be accessible" And it is odd because it will show the avatar below my email on the edit page when using the direct link. Any ideas?

I would not have figured it out on my own nor even considered there was something there other than the alternating images. I can appreciate the cleverness though.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I have the same issue, sigmonkey tried to host my avatar recently and just yesterday I attempted to use both imageshack and imgur to host it with no success.
