The few individual stocks I hold are all solid companies with proven records and good financials. Along with most all stocks they have taken a plunge mostly accountable to the coronavirus scares. I'm considering buying additional shares since it seems to be a bargain but worry about further declines and who knows what will happen in the President Trump deal.

What are you guys doing? Buy, sell or hold?

The common wisdom is if you try to chase market trends you'll end up losing.

Personally, I tend not to look at our retirement account during downturns.

Who knows how the market will react to the outcome of the impeachment effort.

Hold unless further downturns indicate buying more. Time in the market, not timing the market.

If you have the dough, BUY!

I’m selling some over-performing stock at a very high premium, and buying some under-performing at below (what I believe is) value.

I heard he just signed a trade deal with Mexico and Canada, replacing NAFTA.

Holding of course. I'll continue to DCA into the market as it drops or recovers.

Some are speculating that the WHO's announcement yesterday declaring the coronavirus as a global emergency is driving some of the fear.

This. You only get hurt riding a roller coaster if you jump off.

With that said I don’t mess with individual stocks because of the volatility.

It’s the virus causing problems. Workers in China are urged to stay home, airlines are suspending service, travel is down by tourists. My wife’s company was supply to have a big meeting next week bringing in quiet a few people from the Asia regions, they were told to stay home, and not to travel. The markets will take a hit until a vaccine is found, and people are inoculated.

what is your investment horizon?

IF you need the money TODAY, then sell TODAY

if you don't need the money today, then what you're betting is that the market is at its high, and the stocks you want to sell will not increase in appreciation after today

that is a pretty good crystal ball - but my bet is the market still has a lot of legs left in it and to get out now due to 'jitters' is unreasonable

my investment horizon today is 10 years - all of the money I have invested in not needed to anything foreseeable for at least 10 years

I still kick myself for not buying Apple after it split in 2014 to $70/share. Now it's at $310/share. I had told myself that I would have a chance to buy at a decent price again. Roll Eyes

upwards of 40+% of Americans over the age of 50 have less than $100k saved for retirement. A large percentage have a lot less. Don't be one of them.

Do the dollar cost average thing and you will be ok over the long haul.

I have never been one to buy individual stocks though.

Unless you really know what you are doing just hold on.

The Coronavirus virus is causing fear. China partly shutting down cities is not helping. Add the impeachment hearing which all adds uncertainty to the market.

The Coronavirus virus will fade away and the impeachment hearing will end with no impeachment at some point.
