The last month my wife has had inflammation of her eye, her outer ear swelled up and was quite painful and she has had constant joint pain. The Dr. wasn't much help, but it seems to be getting worse. Have an appointment with a rheumatologist but that's a month away.

What could cause all these issues all at once?

Wow, sorry to hear that. I don't have a clue what it could be but I would double check with the specialist to let them know it is fairly urgent to see if you can get in much sooner especially if you can be flexible on day and time. Otherwise call your primary MD back to see what he can do to get into seeing someone much sooner. If no one can help with that consider going to the emergency room at your hospital or a hospital in your network. Typically you can check wait times online for many hospitals these days.

Best of luck to you and your wife.

Take some turmeric curcumin. It's amazing for its anti inflammatory properties.

Ramius is right about the Turmeric.

I've had increased arthritis due to some injuries in the military and began doing superfood smoothies. Turmeric is one of the ingredients.

I noticed the improvement in about a week of the every other day Turmeric smoothies. It does help.
(Adding some local honey is a good thing also).

Living in Lyme territory here, I would guess possibly Lyme as well. 100 mg doxycycline 2x/day for a month. Cheap, and won’t hurt if it turns out she doesn’t have Lyme disease. Ask her doc if, while waiting for Rheumatology, she can do this.

Most of the time you’ll see a bite, but not always.

I could be wrong (it has happened) and it could be other inflammatory conditions, but one does not want to let Lyme progress.

Her age, roughly, and is she an outdoors type?

Clinical studies have shown eating small amounts of black pepper with the turmeric can increase the amount of curcumin in the blood by as much as 2,000 %.

see Biochemical basis of enhanced drug bioavailability by piperine: evidence that piperine is a potent inhibitor of drug metabolism.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3917507

The caution for that is that if you use the tumeric/black pepper combination you need to take a smaller dose of curcumin. Also, piperine can inhibit the metabolism of other drugs by the liver, so be careful and always consult your doctor.

I'm actually a Pharma rep for osteo and rheumatoid arthritis meds.

I'll never give advice against a doctor that has his own treatment algorithm, but I know many doctors that suggest their patients take turmeric to treat inflammation and help with joint pain with or without another med.

I know for a fact that it works and I take it in pill form daily for the past 4 years. Pill form is cheap and easier to take a larger amount than merely sprinkling on your food. Or dump a bunch into a smoothie like Rinehart said. But I take 3 pills 3 times a day to treat a mystery skin disease I have/had.

For as long as I remember, I'd get these mystery flare ups on my legs that puzzled every doctor and dermatologist I went to. All they suggested was prednisone and to let it run its course. Then

I discovered turmeric and the skin condition has never come back. Turmeric is natural and 180 pills can be purchased on Amazon for $19.

There is a cocktail called “3 / 2”. Have her take three 200mg ibuprofen and two extra strength Tylenol. Its helping me allot with back issues. Relief from it is suppose to be near the level of narcotics.

Don't forget to take a gastroprotectant with that such as Pepcid... Gastric ulcers can be nasty and you'll eventually get one if you're taking ibuprofen daily.

How many mg and which brand do you use? I've thought about filling my own capsules. There appears to be evidence to support certain dosages, but if your regimen is working, I'd be grateful to know the doses working for you.

I've been using this pictured brand lately, but only because it's been on sale on Amazon. I've used many different brands and they all seem ok. You just want to make sure it has black pepper included because it increase absorption.

As far as dosage, I might take anywhere between 6-12 pills everyday. But you probably only really need 3'a day. You can't overdose on turmeric, so my mentality is more is better.

I posted but it's gone.
I'm allergic to aspirin. It makes me swell in different limbs, brows, lips. Painful too.
I would think many other meds could cause this too.

I haven't. But I don't have arthritis or any joint issues.

I have a recurring skin condition/random skin inflammation on my shins that turmeric manages to help.

I'm just a drug rep for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis medications...I.e. Big Pharma drugs.
