Nature is full of magnificent creatures |
I am looking for good, tough work gloves. Something one might use on a farm or ranch for a variety of tasks. Most of the stores around me stock L and XL, but my hands are too big for them. Which brand/model of work gloves are your favorite? Thank you for your help.

I gave up on most leather gloves because they needed to be treated as disposable with all the holes I was wearing into them. I ended up getting boxes of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod..._title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Granted, these won't work for all types of activities. It really depends on what you will be doing. You may want more cut/poke protection that a leather glove would offer. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I use very similar ones as you. I got sick of paying $20-30 per pair and only have them last a month at best. These are essentially disposable. They usually last me about two weeks +/- a few days. The huge benefit of these is dexterity, which is extremely important to me as I am manipulating small objects like screws. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Wells Lamont. I've been wearing them for years. The current pair, that is. I've been wearing the brand far longer. You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. How about padded work gloves(like cycling gloves, but with the fingers)? My fingers are going numb from lifting 90# cases with soft handles.

I like Mechanix brand work gloves, and Amazon carries XXL and XXXL. The oil & gas industry worked with Ironclad to develop these work gloves. They have impact absorption and compared to leather are more cut proof, more abrasion resistant, and more breathable. They come in XXL and XXXL and we have some NFL lineman sized guys in oil & gas. They're good "do everything" gloves, but don't have the dexterity of the Mechanix I linked earlier. The world of gloves is amazing and overwhelming at the same time. In oil & gas, the techs practically need a small duffel bag full of gloves to make sure they're're covered for the right situation: Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

I use Mechanix gloves. From the cheap fastfit ones to the $30 impact ones. The impact type last me quite a while so long as they don't get soaked in oil and fuel. About $12 for the fastfit ones, those usually last me a couple weeks before they are blown out. I wear them daily as a diesel tech. All told I have 6 different sets of gloves for work.

If you're willing to spend more for a great quality leather glove, I'd recommend looking at Geiers. Several different types of leather from soft to tough, great quality, and they fit like a...ahem...glove. They are worth the money IMO. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

Been wearing leather gloves pretty much all my life. No matter the cost, they all wore out in the same places at around the same time. I finally just settled on buying them in bulk at Harbor Freight. They don't last any longer but I'm saving a bunch of money. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress.

I'll third the ATG Maxiflex that have already been mentioned twice. Best all around work glove in my opinion. Not perfect for all jobs but good for most.

These are what I use, Elkskin is the only thing I've found for ranch work that doesn't get destroyed working with barbed wire. A pair usually lasts me a year. _________________________ NRA Patron Life Member
