It just never occurred to me that she might die at this time. I feel tears welling up in my eyes. There will never be another who approaches her talent, comedic and business genius. Her generosity and her star power. Truly one of a kind.

I remember her from those days too. Long and very productive, memorable career. I don't do this often, but I pulled the stopper out of my medicinal whiskey and had a healthy snort of it to her life.

I remember an interview she did years ago, and the interviewer said that Elvis was going to record her song, I will always love you, but it didn’t happen, could she say why. She said that his manager, Tom Parker called and said that Elvis gets at least 50% of the publishing rights of the songs he records, was she willing to go ahead with it. She told him that it was a big hit for her and she wasn’t willing to sign any amount of rights over. Parker told her that Elvis wouldn’t record it then, and she said I’m sorry but I’m not doing it. Needless to say, it was the right decision. When it was a hit the second time with Whitney Houston, Dolly owned 100% of the rights.
